Stayed 1 night in Belgium in a hotel from the same chain, which was beautiful. Coming to Goes, and we have been there more times in the past, even stayed in the bridal suite, it all now looks dated and very basic. Not even a kettle in the room. When i approached receptionist about this, this very young girl didn't even had basic customer service skills. She 'plonked' a kettle on the desk and told me bluntly to get my own cups and supplies from the bar area. Me and my husband were furious. suddenly the manager popped her head round the wall (literally) and intervened. Nice bathroom, however, the floor flooded every time you had a shower, as no ridge to keep water in check. Quality of mattresses were bad, we felt like old 90 year old when got up the next morning. Breakfast not bad, but basic too in comparison with their other hotels nationally and internationally. By far the worst one we have visited over the years. At the bar, for our free drink.........the chap disappeared for 10 min to get cream for on my hot chocolate. The manageress did not even offer us anything to make it up to us. Did not receive their online survey. When I called the receptionist girl was blunt and as she didn't like what I had to say, put the phone down on me. when I called back x 2 she picked up phone and threw it down with the same speed, the 3rd time, she put me 10 min on hold till I decided i had enough and hang up. A shame for such a good firm to provide such a bad and basic overall service with all aspects very dated. A shame. Our wish for 2018....for them to do the basic and call us, apologize and offer us a gesture of goodwill and then for them to improve their service fast and most of all reception staff pull up your socks. We didn't pay to get such a poor and basic service, but that is all we received free.

Room Tip: stayed in different rooms over the years. Very hit and miss in what you get and how nice

Friendly staff and good location.
The room is spatious and has a small outside terrace.
Although updated to more modern tastes, it's not the best Van der Valk I've been to.
That's because of details, such as the hair dryer from somewhere in the '80.
Two small downsides for me; the room only has three wall sockets and there's no coffee/tea in the room.

Breakfast is full-on to perfection.

All in all only minor details away from being a great hotel. For now it's 'good'.

Stayed: October 2017, travelled on business

Thank you for sharing your experiences with us. We are very glad to find out that you enjoyed the location and friendliness of our staff. We are aware of the fact that our hotel is not comparable to the 'newer/modern' Van der Valk Hotels (our hotel exists also for more than 25 years now). Within a few years we hope to may build a complete new hotel (next to the current building). Our small budget rooms and standard rooms are not equipped with coffee- and tea facilities, but our comfort- and luxury rooms are. We hope to may welcome you again in the future. ^EP

When you are "far" from a seaside town or an attractive one in Holland, you can expect a comfortable hotel only if you pay the price... It is the case of The Van der Valk Hotel in Goes. Nothing bad to say about it ! Very clean, very comfortable, very spacious with a professional staff and beautiful De Luxe rooms. Great bathroom with a bathtube. Free wifi. Nice and copious breakfast. Vast and free parking around the hotel (which is not located in the centre of Goes so you have to take your car). Nice bar. The environment of the hotel is lovely with a lot of marshes all around. The hotel is also near main roads to travel in Zeeland so it's a good alternative if you are not afraid to drive a little. In general, hotels in Holland are expensive for what they offer... If you want to be sure not to be disappointed, you can go there but open your wallet :o)

Room Tip: The De Luxe room has a great bathtub

Comfortable, convenient, quiet, and ridiculous portions of good quality food in the restaurant plus a wide choice of local, Belgian and German beers. Highly recommend the mussels. Ok price at €19.95 until you realise that it's all-you-can-eat (I managed two cauldrons; most unwise) :)

Thank you for your review and rating. We are very pleased to find out that you enjoyed your stay in our hotel and restaurant and we are looking forward to may welcome you again in the future! (Tip: it is also possible to order our month-menu (3-courses) à € 29,95. As main dish in combination with this menu, you can also choose one cauldron of mussels (instead of all-you-can-eat ;-)). ^EP

We just spent one night in the hotel. Big room, clean bathroom, quiet sorroundings. Plenty of families, but no noise at all. Good breakfast. Strong free wifi. Comfortable beds, anything you need for a nice stay. Free parking on the outside.
