Stayed a single night near Christmas time in an outdoor suite. The suite was a very nice home from home.
Dinner and breakfast were both good.
However relatively pricey we felt

Room Tip: outdoor suite

We went to Helmsley after a day out at Nunnington Hall. Parking in the pay and display car park oppersite, we went to the Feathers with my children and ordered from the day menu. The meals were really good and surprisingly large. The child's meal was good and all of the food was of as good standard in both presentation and taste. The meal was a bit on the pricey side but the standard did feel as if it was worth it. Recommended.

Had dinner at the Feathers on Saturday, 14th April. My colleague had prawns which came inedible. The waiter hurriedly replaced them and the new lot were "delicious". I had the vegetarian pasta dish, which was okay, but not really worth £9.50. It came with two pieces of burnt garlic bread. The staff were very efficient, friendly and helpful.

I ventured into the main bar, which was an entirely different matter. Television on full blast and wall-to-wall blokes, with not exactly friendly wecoming looks.

My highlight was sitting at a table that had a "mouse man" type squirrel carved on it. That was truly special.

This room off the hotel was standard and there are some low ceilings in the hotel... mind your head. BUT...... i never met a so kind and helpfull staff. We need a bus to travel to the start of the Cleveland way, because of banking holiday the daily bus did not go. We asked for a taxi at the reception, but they offered u free ride to the start of the Cleveland way. This is 15 miles! How kind and helpfull can you be???
The restaurant of the Feathers is very cosy and the food was excellent

Firstly I would like to say we did not stay at the Feathers just booked Sunday Lunch.

The carvery which I must admit I am not normally a fan of was excellent. The inside of the pub area is lovely with a massive function room.

However I felt the service was a let down. We was pointed to our table and a drinks order was later taken but no one ever came back to ask us if we wanted a starter or told us to go to the carvery counter. We eventually decided to go up and queue with the others and skip our starters. I did try and get the attention of a lady with redish coloured died hair but she and the other waiting staff seemed to be more interested in talking about how drunk they or others got the night before.

I dont want to put people off going here as food is great - but staff need in my opinion to pay more attention to people who arent regulars.

Often travel the 30 miles from Hartlepool to enjoy the fantastic drive through Bisdale then for a pint, steak and ale pie plus a delicious dessert at The Feathers. Service is consistently friendly and efficient, the food good value, wholesome and tasty and the ambience just as it should be in a market town pub

We have recently visited the Feathers restaurant and I have to say what an improvement to the last time in Jan 2011. The food as before was very tasty and arrived piping hot. The staff were much more effecient and friendly, and the toilets had been refurbished to a high standard, BUT, I do wish they would sort out the dirty, sticky tables in the bar they are disgusting and the cleaner could do with chasing up the dust on the skirting boards in the toilets and bars is a bit off putting, such a shame because they are obviously trying to get the place in order.
