“Outstanding cottage in a wonderful location”

We have been self-catering taking holidays on and around the west coast of Scotland and the islands for many years. Glayva Cottage is probably the best we have ever found, combining as it does high-quality accommodation with a fabulous location.
The cottage has been sympathetically modernised, is spacious, extremely well-equipped and provided us with the perfect base. The owners, Neil and Carol, are great communicators when booking and they were extremely helpful and sympathetic when we needed to postpone our holiday due to a medical issue. When you are in the cottage, they make it clear they are available to assist with any questions you may have, but they won't be paying you a visit unless you ask.
Lochcarron is a lovely, peaceful village and if you want to just chill out, there is ample seating along the loch side, and a pub, bistro and café, together with a very well-stocked Spar shop. If touring is your preference, the location again is perfect, with easy access to many lovely places, such as the Isle of Skye, Applecross, Plockton, Torridon and - a little further afield - the wonderful National Trust for Scotland gardens at Inverewe (NT England members get free entry). Much nearer, and on a much smaller scale, are the beautiful gardens at Attadale, directly across the loch from Lochcarron.
We will certainly be returning to Lochcarron (we have stayed there many times before), and Glayva Cottage will be always be our first-choice accommodation from now on.

Stunning location overlooking Lochcarron, a great base to explore Skye and the most beautiful coral beaches. Glayva Cottage is perfect...... spacious, well equipped, super warm and cosy, only minutes walk from the local pub and there is a local shop which stocks pretty much everything. Carol and Neil could not have been more welcoming and made some great suggestions for days out. We will definitely be back!

“Very nice and comfortable village house, facing the loch”
Reviewed July 31, 2017 for a stay in July 2017

On the Main Street of the village, facing the loch, this house offers fantastic views, ever changing along the day and the weather.
The house is very comfortable, well equipped and nicely furnished, and we totally loved the decoration and attention to details.
The road can be a nuisance at mid-day. Fortunately the traffic is very low in the evening and at night, and we could sleep with open windows. As we were hill walking most days, this was not a problem.

“Magic!”

Lochcarron is a magic place in the Northwest HIghlands, and Glayva Cottage is in a magic location for views and convenience. Everything you could need is provided in the cottage (including board games and books, around a log fire, on those not unexpected rainy days). This was the second time that our family of four has stayed at Glayva, and we'll certainly be back. Perhaps next year we won't be lucky enough to see Aly Bain and Phil Cunningham, and an Elvis impersonator at the pub (not on the same Night), but there'll always be plenty to do, and the comfortable cottage to come back to.
