Great place to enjoy a family holiday. Private Beach is a 5 minute walk, indoor pool was open late, great gated community for biking . Walking into town by the beach is very relaxing. Front desk was always pleasant and very helpful. There are 2 restaurants in this resort. We tried the dinner buffet in the dining room but we were all very disappointed in the quality of the food and the service.

Room Tip: We were in the main lodge overlooking the golf course. Patio was a great place to sit in the morning sun and watch the golfers.

My overnight stay at Oakwood Resorts was very relaxing and comfortable, the staff was professional and accommodating. Love the access to the beach which was extremely breathtaking the entire stay in itself is one to remember.

No one to seat us - had to chase down a waitress. Several different waitresses asking us if we had drinks and still took 15 minutes to get one. Very unorganized. I picked up a plate to go through the buffet and the bottom was covered in gravy which then left my hand covered in gravy. The dessert table was a selection of cakes with a plate full of them being the leftover mish mash of odd left over pieces. Pineapple was browning. Cauliflower brown. For $30/person I would have expected much better. No refills offered. Go to the pub. Much better bang for your buck and better atmosphere.

The only good thing about Oakwood resort is its location. Direct access to a beautiful beach is the feature that somehow covers up for the mediocrity of this establishment. The rooms are outdated and resemble a motel level accommodations for the price of a luxury hotel. The reception staff is not trained in customer service and hospitality, they make the resort look even worse that it actually is. Our stay included breakfast which was plainly bad: no variety, overcooked and stale. To give the resort some credit, the salt water pool is a nice addition to otherwise scarce amenities. It is unfortunate as the place has good potential, it is though in a dire need of overhaul of both physical and soft assets.

I am sorry that we did not meet your expectations during your stay with us. We work very hard to ensure all of our guests enjoy their time here and am disheartened to hear of someone walking away disappointed. I do hope you consider visiting us at Oakwood again in the future.

We had a deluxe king in the main building ; rooms are large, rustic, clean and comfy!
Our room has an electric fireplace for ambiance, and large bay window overlooking the grounds . Short walk down the private path to beautiful Lake Huron , and a short drive to downtown Grand Bend and beach . Best place to view a sunset !
