We have stayed at Jakes in August 2013. It was our 4th time that we returned to Jakes and the second time we have stayed in a honeymoon room, called Octopuss. We highly recommend Jakes and the whole stay in the Treasure Beach area. Very pure jamaican living, totally not touristy and the people at Jakes and in the area are the nicest people in Jamaica. Looking forward to our 5th stay in the (near) future :)

Room Tip: Loved Cockles Up and Down, but the Octopuss cottages are really the best!

Jamaica's south coast is very different from the north, especially Treasure Beach where the sun is a lot meaner. Jake's hotel is a little gem along this beautiful coast, with little houses / cabins dotted along the rugged landscape. We stayed in a room called Abalone Up, which seemed like it was built right out of the earth with ancient techniques. The walls felt thick and cool - like an old timey plaster finish, and the room had skylights made from Coca-Cola bottles. The rooms were incredibly small - and the queen size bed made it appear very squashed. The point of the room I guess is to force you to go outside and take in the incredible landscape - and that worked! We spent most of our time chilling at the salt water pool, climbing the rocks, going to the Driftwood Spa and eating tons of lobster and pizza at Jack Sprats. I'd go back every weekend just for the food. Dinner at Jakes always felt like a family style setting and the cultural vibe there was real. It's the south coast, so I wouldn't say its the best beach, but if you really want to get away from the traditional all-inclusive, this is the spot to be.

I went to Jake's in August, 2013 for the first time and had a great experience. Stayed in one of the garden rooms, called Cowrie Down.

The rooms were comfortable, the food was tasty, and the bar will make you all sorts of juices and blended drinks. I would probably stay in one of the houses directly facing the water next time, just because they're so pretty, and because a private veranda right on the ocean is a great thing.

There is a nice area with beach chairs and sand right on the water, and a small pool that's good for cooling off. You can't swim right off of Jake's, but right off the property, there are miles of very quiet beaches with swimming and a bit more shade.

It's about a 2 hour drive from Montego Bay airport to Jake's, but if you're staying more than a few nights, it's worth it. Totally not the all inclusive party scene, but great for lazy days (except for the 2 hour yoga classes you can take every day) and quiet nights.

Room Tip: Book one of the houses facing the water; they're lovely.

My husband is a big fan of sport bird shooting. He does this in St Elizabeth and I journey with him for a true relaxation vacation and the perfect spot is Jakes. Very environmentally friendly. Great staff and healthy food. Fresh organic food. Great drinks at Dougies Bar. Relaxing and very beautiful property. Driftwood spa is also amazing. Very rustic and natural place to be.

Room Tip: Beach view. Cockles or octopus

I loved the villas at Jakes. This is a perfect place for those who want to spend quality time with others and not spend time cooped up in the room watching tv. It's a resort perfect for those who are not into all-inclusive, trendy, large scale hotels.

The pictures on their website say it all.
