I visited Devbaug-Malvan with my family. Booked Siddhivinayak resort after much r&d on net. The moment we stepped into the resort, I knew i had made the right decision. The resort is bang in front of the beach. The people who run the place are very hospitable and courteous. You get to see the local fishermen hauling their catch. We even saw dolphins from the resort itself. And most importantly - the food. It was perfect. We ordered modaks, prawns, surmai etc etc and it was always perfect. Overall it was a wonderful memorable trip.

A very good location bang in front of the beach, Good owners, nice hospitality. Its basically extended on the owners residential property. Food is homemade and very delicious. Rates are really cheap. People with too much expectations will find it difficult to stay. But I must say the family attended all our requests for maggi, floor mats, extra pillows, drinks, sea food etc.

Room Tip: Take the sea facing room no 1

Located right on the beach, amidst a coconut grove, the rooms are no-frills but clean and comfortable. It was a great relief to find such a clean and well-equipped toilet and bath in such a rustic environment.

Unfortunately, the rooms are arranged in a long row and only room 1 has a sea view. But that is not a deterrent really since one just have to walk a few paces to get to the beach. Better book in advance during long weekends and autumn and winter vacations.

(Better not go barefoot to the beach, as the high end is littered with plastic and glass refuse)

Meals (available on order) are served alfresco, in the compound in front of the rooms. There is also a thatched seating arrangement on the beach end. Enjoy home-cooked Malvani food (but request them to go light on the spices if necessary). Safe to try local fish and prawns.

The kitchen also doubles up as a sales counter - so you can easily see what's being cooked and check for cleanliness.

The managers can arrange for boat rides into the sea and the nearby islands, for dolphin watching and snorkelling.

Room Tip: Carry torch and insect repellants

We chose Tarkarli as a holiday location because we wanted to be away from Goa's crowd. Goa is beautiful but Tarkarli is unspoilt.
Initially we were confused between MTDC resort and this. Finally we chose this as we had read good reviews and also MTDC is a very expensive option with poor service. It turned out to be an excellent decision.
This is about 15 mins drive from Tarkarli beach (on the same road), and is technically the Deobagh beach. Deobagh beach is very beautiful and much better than Tarkarli beach, which we found littered with fishing waste.
The resort is bang on the beach. We saw wild Dolphins on our second morning!
Be sure to take room no 1 as it has a window that opens to the sea. With the sound of waves crashing and a gentle breeze blowing throughout the day we had a truly wonderful sleep.
But beware of the frequent electricity cuts in the area. I wonder if the nearby AC rooms will make any sense because of those cuts.

There was a hammock in the resort, but there should have been at least 2 more.

The service was excellent. The food is prepared in house and is typical of the Konkan region and Malvan style. Do try the Sol Kadhi (a curry made of coconut and Kokam) if you are a vegetarian. Do try the Surmai Thali and the Pomphret Thali if you love Fish.
One of the resort worker Milind served our orders with great enthusiasm.

The resort even arranged a bonfire on our request and we had a nice short barbeque.

We took the recommended boating tour of the backwaters and tsunami island, which was arranged by the resort itself, and the location of the boat and river was just a 5 mins hike across the road.

The Sindhudurg fort is reachable from boat from Tarkarli. You can take the Green mini bus (shuttle) operated by MTDC to travel to and fro from Tarkarli beach to the resort.

Definitely try out Snorkeling, which is arranged by the same boat that takes you to Sindhudurg fort. They charged about 250 rs per head for a half hour snorkeling near the fort, with beautiful views of corals and fish swimming with you.

For shopping you can try Malvan city, which is again close to Tarkarli.

Keep at least 3 days in hand to experience this wonderful paradise.
