Our family had the privilege of living in Europe (Switzerland) for 2 years with our work. We have been back in the US for one year, so yes, my review is overdue but I feel so strongly about how well we were treated at Der Adler I am compelled to write a review. (Full Disclosure- this is my first review I have ever written for any hotel- again a product of Der Adler's outstanding service). We have 3 children; at the time they were 14, 12, and 8 years old. Der Adler was by far the most hospitable hotel we stayed at in all of Europe, and we visited 16 countries, so I do know what I am talking about. It's so cozy and authentic, and everyone is so friendly and attentive. They are genuinely happy you are there. Really. Even the early morning breakfast servers have a smile on the face and were very patient listening to my children speaking broken German while ordering (though the servers also speak English, they were like nice, encouraging teachers). The hotel's food is delicious and plentiful and tastes like homemade food your most skilled relative would make- so refreshing!! The pool and spa is a blast- for American families wondering- yes it can be difficult to find an indoor pool in Europe. The hotel is so well managed and they look after every detail, even the bartender was conversational and had interesting stories. Really, the entire staff was absolutely delightful. We stayed for 5 nights the week before Christmas in 2014. Unfortunately mother nature did not cooperate, so only a few ski runs at Kitzbuhl were open. Still, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We got some skiing in but were so drawn in by the charming atmosphere (fires, apres ski, apple streusel, pool, spa, wine list, etc) that the mediocre skiing conditions were secondary. And just in case you are wondering- yes, we are really skiers, we lived in Colorado for 10 years, our children were born there, and all skied by age 3. So, thank you Der Adler for such a memorable Christmas vacation for our family!! I only hope that one day we are fortunate enough to return! Vielen Danke.

Just got back from a long weekend at this family-run hotel. It's quite traditional in style and modest in size but that meant that you got to meet all the staff and many of the residents too in just a few short days. Even though we were the only English guests and our German was very limited, all the staff went out of their way to be friendly and helpful in every way. If you're typically 'English' and a little shy of trying to converse in a local language, even the bare minimum of 'guten morgen', 'danke', 'bitte' will be appreciated and they'll soon realise you don't know much more and put you completely at ease with their fluent English!

Our room was excellent, comfortable and a very good size, plenty of room, overlooking the garden area and had a separate loo as well as decent sized bathroom. The main dining room (where our table was located - you sit at the same table for breakfast and dinner) was beautifully laid out and very pleasant. Food was always excellent, but the standout dish for dinner was the Pork Medaillions in Horseradish Cream sauce on Saturday night...stunning!

Our stay was based on half-board 'plus' - essentially buffet breakfast (excellent range of local dishes to cover all tastes), buffet lunch and three course dinner, which again consisted of buffet starter and then a choice of meat dish, fish dish or vegetarian for main course. I could imagine some guests feeling that this limited choice would be too limited, but we thoroughly enjoyed all meals. Dessert is again a single choice, but you could always ask for ice cream or opt for the Tyrol cheese selection...or even have both!

The hotel also had great on-site facilities such as a superb indoor heated pool, small gym and a fantastic wellness centre which had sauna, steam room, massage rooms and relaxation area - all of which was spotlessly clean and superbly maintained - but also hardly used, which meant we had the facilities to ourselves! I'm sure this would be different though during a winter stay when the hotel is bound to be full to the rafters!

We were blessed with excellent weather during the weekend and the hotel's recommendations on local places to visit was greatly appreciated. We saw lots of the stunning scenery on our travels around and would highly recommend an 'out-of-winter-season' trip to this fabulous hotel. The local town of Kirchberg was a bit too quiet if you wanted an 'after-dinner' beer in one of the town's bars, but that would be the only (very minor) disappointment of the whole trip.

Great traditional family run hotel. Wonderful staff if you are friendly and pleasant and prepared to make a very small effort at the local language...highly recommended.

Room Tip: Hotel is situated right on the main road into Kirchberg which was not too busy during our trip...could be noisy in winter...

This family managed hotel has impeccable standards of cleanliness and an outstanding team of courteous, friendly and accommodating staff. The owners, Herr & Frau Egger, are friendly and keen to make your holiday a happy one.

The hotel has a delightful dining room, and the full board catering is more than ample.

Our bedroom, type Hubertas B, on the second floor was light and generously proportioned with a balcony overlooking the quiet hotel garden. The indoor pool, in common with all areas within the hotel, is very well maintained, the bar is cosy and there is a nice outdoor seating area when the weather permits.

This was our fourth visit in nine years and we would particularly like to mention Degan, Florian, Diana and Stefan as being outstanding members within an excellent team. We would recommend the hotel to families (our son has celebrated several birthdays here and, each time, has been made to feel special by the hotel team) and also to couples looking for a quiet holiday amidst wonderful scenery.

The hotel is a short walk (6-7 minutes) along the flat into the centre of Kirchberg village.

Room Tip: We prefer Hubertas B rooms on first or second floor overlooking the garden

Dear Mr. Nathan, here again a copy of our mail to your privat mail address on 25.02. which we have sent you a couple of hours after your departure:

Dear Mr. Nathan,
as you complained about the bathroom and our chambermaid cleaned everything this morning again and our male-housekeeper checked the sink and drains in your room as well at 8 AM this morning and they both did not find anything we asked our plumber company to check too and they were here just half an hour ago and did not find anything in room no. 409, so everything seems to be okay and he didn’t realize any strange smell either.
We are sorry that you were not pleased with the service in our hotel.
We still hope that you will have a nice holiday in Austria. Greetings – Egger Natascha
