We had an excellent week at the Sportalm Gourmethotel in Kirchberg Austria. The hotel has a perfect location next to the slopes. The service from the staff and the food is very good. I can definately recommend this hotel for anyone both with and without children.

We thoroughly enjoyed staying here the week over Christmas. Close access to the ski lift and ski rental. There's a slope that comes past the hotel. We would leave our ski equipment at the ski rental store for a small fee every day and were able to walk the few hundred meters back to the hotel with out the cumbersome equipment.

The rooms in the hotel are quite varied - some are more modern than others. We stayed in an older room which had a small self catering section, not that this was needed as the food was incredible. Living up to its name the chef prepared an incredible 6 course gourmet meal nightly. Included in the hotel package was an afternoon tea from 4pm and a delicious breakfast. Drinks were substantially more expensive than the bar down the road or the spar.

It is a family run establishment. The family who owns it are lovely people. Nothing was too much for them. They really went out of their way to keep their guests happy.

Fabulous place with lovely modernised, quiet rooms but still in the traditional Austrian style. Superb food, as good as many a top class restaurant, and very accommodating for children who may not like the adventurous masterchef style cuisine produced consistently night after night.
Positioned just off the main blue slope leading down to the cable car, hire shops and ski school it is virtually ski in ski out.
Service great from Phillip and Joseph in the evenings, who seem to hold a busy dining room together, but very slightly erratic at breakfast despite the first class choice of everything you can imagine.
Only drawback is the very small, cold swimming pool which makes it unappealing enough to not bother using for the adults, despite not deterring the kids. ..and of course the usual awkward Austrian style naked sauna/steamroom which you get everywhere.
Altogether a fantastic place and we would go again.

Top hotel near Fleckenalmbahn (skiing). Top quality restaurant included; every night we had a fantastic dinner. Very nice rooms. Our room was recently build and nice. Breakfast also nice. Walking to ski pistes takes only 2/3 minutes from the hotel. Booked for net year....;-)

A real typical Austrian hotel with a lot of warmth and the usual cosy decoration and woodpanels. What sets it apart is the very, very fine kitchen: seriously good food which is sort of unusual in these sort of places.

The rooms are as standard as you'll see them in any Austrian pension or hotel but the beds are fine, the bathroom is excellent and all is very clean (but for some reason the showers don't have showercurtains which I find a big nuisance).

Staff is friendly in a professional way and they work hard and effecient.

The hotel caters to bikers (the oldest mountainbike school in Austria is just around the corner). The area is definitely excellent for that sort of activity (and hiking). Pool and sauna are okay and there is plenty of room to leave your bike and do a little maintencance.

Despite the information contained on the hotel's website, personnel (including, the owner of the hotel) does not speak English (actually, they do not speak any foreign languages). The menu, all booklets about the hotel (incl. price-lists), and other materials distributed in the hotel are in German. This makes the stay in the hotel quite uncomfortable for people not speaking German and may lead to certain unpleasant miscommunications. Thus, at the checkout hotel owner requested that we paid additional money for our accomodation despite the fact that our accomodation was fully paid one month in advance which can not be defined other than cheating clients. It is a pity, because the hotel is very good (nice location, good food). However, having experienced the abovesaid, we will not return to this hotel again.
