We have just returned from our Christmas and New Year stay at this quaint bijou small Alpine hotel

Our only disappointment was that after 2 weeks , we realised that we only had one more week here !!

We really did not wish to depart from this idyllic Christmas Card setting ( snow was covering the whole area) so we booked an extra week and finally stayed for 4 weeks

We have stayed previously at the Willms and on our arrival, we felt as though we had never been away

The Willms family all welcomed us; Sylvie , Gutrun,Stephan, Ralph and their son Christoph ( on University leave ) ; their well known and highly liked parents were also delighted to see us again

It is always the sign of a good Hostelry ( or in fact any business in the World ) when one finds the same staff, year in and year out ; it was so pleasant to see Darko 's smiling face again in charge of the restaurant ;also Branko and Lena organising our daily room cleaning ( we think they use a magic wand )

I think there is little praise I can say about this hotel which has not already been said by other guests

It is set in the most perfect position with beautiful Alpine views on all sides

It is a mere 5 minutes walk to the ski bus stop and to all the local shops, Rudi ski hire , bars , restaurants and a variety of Discos for the Night Owls

We are always surprised that virtually no English clients visit this hotel

It is a superb hotel which runs discreetly and to the perfection of a Swiss watch; it is perfect for a Romantic Getaway, a Walking holiday , a ski or sledging holiday or simply a really relaxing Break ; they also have a good selection of Family rooms and organise special childrens meal times

For the average ski enthusiasts, I would say without any doubt that Kirchberg beats Kitzbuehel hands down ; if however one is a Black run adrenalin junkie , then Kitzbuehel does have a few reasonably well known pistes !

Our only niggle this year with the skiing was the lack of supervision on the slopes by the Kitzski Ski Patrol

Other ski resorts we have visited (both in Austria and in various countries ) had very well organised Ski Patrols who came down very severely on drunken and disorderly Snow Boarders !

This ski area needs to pull its socks up on Ski Patrol !!!

So, in conclusion, the Willms is the perfect holiday retreat for all ages , young or old

We have actually booked for a second stay here in March this Winter and have also rebooked for next Christmas New year*

Room Tip: All the rooms are brilliant but we prefer the ones facing the forest

We have stayed at Hotel Willms at least 6 times, summer and winter.
The family always treats guests as special, the standard of the rooms, food, and public areas are always first class. Its impossible to put into words how we feel about this beautiful family run hotel in a stunning setting, we will continue to return again and again.

Room Tip: they are all good, we have stayed in many of them

An extremely nice hotel placed in a very quiet location just five minutes from the centre of Kirschberg, 5 km from Kitzbuhel. Run by the family Willms who are the perfect hosts together with their excellent staff. They all create a family feeling for
all guests.
We were here for the second year running and will be back again next year.
The food is excellent, a very good buffet breakfast and wonderful 4-course dinner.
We have stayed at many hotels in the mountains of Austria, Italy, Germany and Slovenia the last 15 years - Willms is in the top two.with regrds to food.
Good faclities with an outdoor pool; nice to relax there in the afternoon after hiking
in the mountains. Nice relaxing area with sauna, Whirlpool, steambath etc.
The KitzAlps summer card gives access to 31 lifts and cable cars in the region opening great hiking area which suits all ages. Lots of activities for children at middle stations of some of the lifts making it ideal for families. Having Hotel Willms as your "home" base secures that you are guaranteed a wonderful holiday - we imagine
the same can be said for those staying with the Willms family in the winter season also.

On our last trip to the Willms, my one and only negative point was that smoking was permitted in the public areas

This has all changed

A notice at the front entrance advises all and sundry ,that this is a non smoking hotel

Apparently , all Austrian hotels , restaurants and bars will be compelled by law to ban smoking in 2017

However , the Willms family has decided to pre empt this sword of Damocles and has created an instant Tyrolean fresh air environment

During our stay ( we returned home 3 days ago ) there were only a few die hard Smokers , who quite cheerfully stood outside the hotel , when they wanted a " puff "

This has made a huge difference to the general atmosphere in this hotel

It must be remembered that , in common with most Austrian hotels , this is a small and cosy hotel and the bar , lounge , Stubn and restaurant areas were just not suited to being used by Smokers

As I said in my last review, this is a typical timbered small and traditional Tyrolean hotel with a beautiful log fire in the afternoons and evenings

It is run entirely by the Willms family who are in attendance 24 hours a day ; they ensure that every guest is perfectly looked after and has a memorable stay

During our stay , food was once again of the highest and imaginative standard , under the careful eye of Master chef , Ralph Willms

We have stayed in many hotels in Austria , where the food has been beyond reproach

However , we are both decided that the food here is the best of all the ones where we have stayed

We previously stayed here in a front room , with balcony and opted for the same again , as we love the completely open views of the snowy fields and the deep forests opposite ; from our bedroom windows , there was only nature for us to look and only nature could look in at us ; we left our curtains open all the time , as it was wonderful to look at the moonlight over the snowy scene

Rooms on the other side are equally large and also have excellent views towards the ski slopes , the forests and the mountains

There really is very little more I can say , which I did not write about in my last review

This is an exceptional small hotel which continues to offer the most wonderful and relaxing holidays whilst maintaining very low prices

We are actually planning 2 more trips this winter to the Willms as the snow and skiing in this area is perfect for the whole season

Room Tip: All rooms are a good size with pleasant Tyrolean views

An expertly family-run B&B that feels like a professional hotel. The Willms family really put in much effort in making the guests comfortable and feel welcomed. Bed rooms are not modern but has an old world charm of wood cabins, and everything was very comfortable so no complaints! Easy drive to Kitzbuhel and has a small parking lot in the back. Would definitely return if I ever come back to this region for skiing.
