A word of warning on this place, it's 2.9km off the camino finisterre route but nearly 6.5km from Olveiroa. If you're planning on walking your third day here from Olveiroa to Finisterre then staying in this hotel adds nearly 7km to your walk, the distance from the hotel to the seafront in finisterre is 40 km (and another 3.5km if you are planning on finishing up at the Cabo). Luckily the hotel offers a service that will drop you to where you left the camino and I'd highly recommend taking them up on that. We didn't and it added some unexpected time & distance to our walk that day. The hotel staff will also organise for your bags to be brought to Finisterre if you wish, it costs 35euro. The hotel staff don't speak any english so if you don't speak Spanish bring along a phrase book

The hotel itself is grand, nothing out of the ordinary. Unfortunately the soundproofing in rooms is dreadful and you can hear everything that people in all the rooms around you are saying as well as noise from the bar downstairs. The bedframes are wrought iron so if anyone gets 'amorous' it can be an interesting old night.

We didn't eat in the restaurant, although the food sounded lovely, it just was a bit more formal than we wanted after a sweaty day on the trail. There's a pizzeria across the road that's ok (and that's it for restaurants in A Picota) and a few supermarkets, including one beside the hotel.

A Picota itself has very, very little to do in it unless you're really into agricultural supply shops but it's a handy stop off for the Camino. It's up a flippin giant hill so be prepared for one last big push if you're walking there from the camino trail!

Breakfast here was lovely, for €4 each we got fried bread (really tasty), juice, tea, coffee and a massive and delicious slice of the almond cake you find in santiago. Everything was fresh and lovely and there was enough cake to stick some in your pocket as a reward for some of the hills between here and Finisterre.

All in all it was a nice hotel, the showers and breakfast were great. Lack of soundproofing and smokey, slightly uncomfortable bar less so. I'd stay here again if I was doing the Camino (but I'd take a lift back to the trail the next day!)

Casa Jurjo looks like a plane and simple hotel which truly holds its beauty inside. The rooms are very clean and well kept but its best feature is the service. The reception staff is extraordinarely friendly and we were even offered a lift to retake the way of St James as the hotel lies 4km off it. The pilgrim's menu is the best value for money ever with a choice from two starters and two mains and desserts with plenty of house wine and water included for 12 euro. The food is excellent quality and the portions are so generous that one menu could feed two people. The hotel bar is also a local bar and the breakfast is simple but delicious. It is really well worth it to step out of the camino and spend a night here.
