I took my kids for a day at the beach and had prebooked a night at the hotel. Even though the family room was £130 it was worth every penny and my kids loved it.
We had stayed in a family at another 5 star hotel earlier on in the year but the botany bay hotel beat it hands down.
The staff are great, never a glum face, chatty and helpful.
I can't wait til we go again!!

The Botany Bay is the only place to stay, eat and drink here off season. However, they don't take the captive audience for granted. We stayed overnight in a family suite - you don't get a lot of those nowadays. The room was clean and beds comfortable - all we needed. I did see a cobweb in the rooflight (based on previous comment) which was way up high and unreachable which frankly didn't bother us in the slightest. Who looks up there anyway? We really enjoyed the food here and of course the Shepherd Neame beers. I must agree that sometimes the staff do appear rushed and we had to remind a couple of times. The breakfast was by way of a table with cereals and whole fruit - no portions of different fruit to eat with yoghurt for example. Also available was the ever enjoyable full English breakfast. Another tip for breakfast, you may want to have one of those conveyor belt toasters to avoid the toast going cold and wastage. Enjoyed out time at Botany Bay and we will be back when the weather's warmer.

Lovely hotel in the best location on cliff top overlooking the sea and lovely long beach.
The sea view rooms are lovely with spectacular views. However, evening meal was ok, but we were in the middle of eating it, when the staff starting moving all the other free tables around setting up for a large breakfast group in the morning!! Furniture being moved all around us was not ideal when we were eating our main meal. It is a dog friendly hotel which is lovely, however, sitting in the bar area felt like we were sitting in the middle of Battersea Dogs Home!! Dogs constantly barking all around us, you could hardly hold a conversation for all the noise. Breakfast was served luke warm as was the tea and coffee, such a shame.

Room tip: luxury sea view rooms are excellent

What a pleasant surprise. We received a warm welcome and were given a lovely sea view room. The bathroom was immaculate and the bed was huge and comfortable. The full English breakfast was enormous and set you up for the day. We ate here twice in the evening and the food was very good. Special mention to the housekeeper as the room was cleaned very well and the bathroom sparkled. I would like to thank all the staff for a lovely stay, as they were all friendly and nothing was too much trouble. I would applaud the management for a well run hotel.

Lovely Hotel and location ......but very poor standard of food!! As a family of 5 we came and stayed in this lovely Hotel. We ordered our evening meal, the burgers were average, and ham and egg and chips, average. My husband ordered the Brazilian Seafood Stew which was disgraceful, it came up looking like a starter, it was more like a soup. It had a very small amount of rice sitting in the middle of a watery sauce with just one small piece of fish, there was no chunky pieces as stated on menu, the size was something you would dish up to a 5 year old, diabolical!! My son had the Belly of Pork, which consisted of 3 small slices of meat, with slithers of dried up black pudding. Very poor value for money and completely spoiled our evening. We called the Manager who was understanding, and felt sorry for him as others in the restaurant were complaining. Shepherd Neame really need to get their act together regarding some of their portion sizes in the restaurant, the menu looks good but certainly some meals not good or value for money. Have used this Hotel for 30 years and had this problem so many times now, it is not a patch on what it used to be. Very disappointing!!!
