It was great to return after a few years absence and meet new owner Neil. Just as good as ever after 15 years of visiting regularly. Perfect location, self catering for individuals and small groups. Ideal base for access to Cairngorm NP or for mtb or touring bicycles. 15 minutes from Aviemore and close to the A9. First class self-catering, comfy chairs to fall asleep in front of the wood burner stove. Ideal family base and for serious participants in summer or winter 'on the hill'.

Room Tip: One room for two and two rooms for up to five. Room also in the B&B.

This hostel has very good facilities for cooking, a large eating area and lounge and a truly splendid laundry / drying room. Our room was rather small, and the bathrooms functional. Helpful proprietor.

We stayed at this accommodation during our JOGLE cycle and it was amazing. The couple who run it are so friendly and knowledgeable about cycling. The place was spotlessly clean with all the facilities you would require including the best drying room we have come across. I would definitely recommend anyone to stay at this lovely place.

This was our second stay at the hostel and as previous we had a great time. As there were 6 of us we were allocated 2 rooms which were more than adequate. The toilet and shower facilities were great and plentiful meaning that there was no queing in the mornings. Being set back off the main road meant that the noise level was virtually zero and that we had a great nights sleep. After our last visit one of our party left his favourite scotland towel behind and it was a great surprise when on enquiring if it was still there, Neil presented it to him prior to leaving.
A great place to stay and great hosts. Thank you Neil and Sue for a great few days. Hope to see you again soon.

This is a basic hostel but was a perfect place for our motorcycle club's first outing of the year.
We had 10 bikers staying, plenty of parking space, so had the place to ourselves. Very handy for pub, food and petrol. Good value for money. Hostel was clean, tidy with plenty of storage space for our gear. Sue was on hand whenever we needed her, a good host.
We will be back.

Stayed for a couple of nights to climb the local Munros.

The hostel was well equipped and clean. Unusually for a hostel, rather than split the rooms as male/female with a mixture of parties sharing together, each party is booked into their own room (if possible) which in my case meant I got my own room since I was a party of one - for the price they charge this is incredible value! If you want, you still get the chance to socialise in the common room and kitchen with a good array of seating.

My room was excellent with a comfortable bed, room for hanging clothes and a warm heater. I also had a key to lock my room. There was an excellent drying room which coped well with a number of parties filling the room with gear!

I also found that Sue, Ali and Neil were really friendly and accommodating without being intrusive, they were also very knowledgeable about the local area and suggested some good routes when the weather was bad.

Would certainly like to return at some point in the future.

Newtonmore is small, but in a beautiful part of Scotland. If you are looking for amazing scenery, nice walks and relaxation, this is a great place to stay. The hostel was very nice, and the owners lovely. I hadn't made reservations before hand, but there were some vacancies and they were very accommodating. The hostel is simple, but cozy and clean, and the bed was comfortable. I'd very much recommend staying here!
