The Borneo Rainforest Lodge is the most amazing place to visit. Set deep in the rainforest in Danum Valley it is a 2hr 30 min drive from lahad datu where there office is. On arrival you are greeted with a cool drink and given an introduction by the staff before meeting your guide. You are then taken to your room. We stayed in a Deluxe room overlooking the River and rainforest which was stunningly set out and had a large bath on a private balcony. Once we settled in we went for a video and talk given by a guide it was about the lodge and surrounding area and do and don'ts. After this went for the first of our walks which was along the nature trail which is a boarded walk thru the rainforest then onto another trail where we saw red leaf monkey's. After relaxing for a while we went on a night drive where we saw a very large wild boar and flying squirrels which was an amazing sight to see when they take off into the night. When we got back we went for a buffet style dinner in a beautiful restaurant/eating area overlooking the rainforest. There was a great selection of salads mains fresh cooked kebabs burgers soup and desserts. The staff were brilliant and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was the same a large selection of fruit cerial mains an egg station etc. After breakfast we went for a 2hr 30 climb along the coffin trail and upto to the viewing point that looked over the lodge. It is a tough climb but not rushed it was very hot so you need plenty of water which is supplied free of charge you also need Leech socks and good walking shoes. Once you reach the top you won't be disappointed the view is amazing with rainforest as far as the eye can see. After a 2hr walk back it was time for lunch with the same quality as before then out for another walk along one of the many trails. At night we did a night walk which was very interesting and slightly scary lol. We saw a rainforest badger scorpion tarantula praying mantis lots of frogs a snake an many other bugs. In the morning before we left we did the canopy walk along rope bridges thru the tree canopies this is amazing listening and watching the rainforest wake up. Everything about this place is amazing from the staff to the guides to the rooms you can not fault it. It was an experience of a life time that i will never forget.
