“Peace and quiet in the Midi Pyrenees”
Reviewed 26 April 2017 for a stay in April 2017

Alex and Catherine's Gite is a delight. Simply but stylishly furnished, spotlessly clean and a wonderful get away from it all location.

A bottle of wine was waiting for us when we arrived along with as much information as you could want on where to go, what to see and where to shop and eat.

The gite has is easy to find as it was named on the SatNav!! There are neighbours but none less than 500 metres away and the views to the South are uninterrupted and beautiful. Nevertheless it is only 10 minutes away from Pamiers and about an hour by motorway to Toulouse.

We can't recommend it highly enough.

“The perfect family retreat”
Reviewed 12 October 2015 for a stay in August 2015

Spacious and lovingly restored wing of a picturesque French farmhouse with all modern conveniences, perfect for a young family. Tranquil setting with stunning panoramic views to the Pyrenees from the garden and (gated) pool. Tons of outdoor activities in the local area for young and older kids alike. Owners couldn't be more friendly and helpful. Can't recommend this Gite more highly for a quiet/relaxing yet active/fun (as you choose) family holiday.

Stunning views, lovely atmosphere, a real home from home. Very comfortable with very spacious rooms and a good range of outdoor amenities. We would love to return.

“Fun for friends and young ones”
Reviewed 29 May 2013 for a stay in April 2013

This was an excellent holiday that we all thoroughly enjoyed despite the unusually crummy weather. This was due to the beautiful location, the amazing accommodation and the great hosting skills of the owner, Catherine.
Before my two friends, my son and I had even left the UK for our nine day holiday in April at Gite Vue des Montagnes, Catherine had made us feel welcome by sending a detailed email that included ideas of things to do in the area that my one-year-old would enjoy. It was a lovely touch because, as anyone who has travelled with children who have mastered crawling at speed while maintaining the attention span of a flea will know, it can be a bit tricky trying to find enough places that will keep them happy.
The gite itself is just lovely. The bedrooms are spacious and with furniture that you'd expect in a luxury boutique hotel, and the bathroom... Well, if there was a way of nicking a bathroom and smuggling it on to EasyJet then I would have. The downstairs living area is open plan and again really well designed. Catherine and her husband have clearly spent a long time planning the decor and layout of the gite.
Everyone's favourite bit, however, was the outdoor area. My son fell in love with the trampoline and the swings (I'm not sure he fully appreciated the spectacular views across to the Pyrenees, but I certainly enjoyed them) and the garden itself is fabulous for both crawling and sunbathing (yep, we had three whole days of sunshine and it was blooming glorious). The swimming pool looks fab with a perspex wall to allow swimmers to look from the pool directly to the mountains – an unusual and clever idea.
The nearest town, Pamiers, is a short drive away, and there are plenty of activities and medieval towns to visit in the surrounding area. One of the things that we really enjoyed, however, was bumbling around the lanes and chatting to the cows and practising woefully bad French on the locals who had the misfortune to pass us. We also thoroughly enjoyed drinking wine in the outdoor dining area at night and would have enjoyed using the barbecue if the rain had allowed us.
We all want to go back there, and not just because the resident cats are just the soppiest and prettiest pair ever. The real reason is that we had a fabulous time, and really, there can't be many places deep in the countryside that you can visit in freakishly bad weather with a one-year-old and say that about it.

If you are looking to get away from it all in an idyllic rural Pyrenean setting, one which is accessed by motoring through French villages outside Pamiers in Ariege that look as if they have come straight out of a film location finder's contacts book, then this is the place for you!

I visited in September 2012 and found a stunningly-restored building, beautiful views and a cool swimming pool to boot. It seemed almost impossible that the town or Pamiers was just 10-15 minutes away by car.

Highly recommended, though I suspect you'll need to get your reservation in fast ....
