“Great hotel, great location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 March 2012

We stayed at this hotel over the half term break. Great location as it is only about 50 m from ski school and 20 m from the nearest ski lift. The staff were friendly and worked hard. They also tried their best to accomodate our dietry requirements (one of our party had several food allergies). Our waitress Anna was brilliant. The mini club was also wonderful and very freindly and the kids loved the nightly entertainment put on for them - which meant we were left in peace. The food was delicious, plentiful and there were lots of variety. Only gripe is that they won't serve tea/coffee with dinner. You have to go to the coffee room/bar next door. I would have gladly exchanged one of the four courses of dinner for tea/coffee as I was full after the first course anyway and never made it past the second course on most days! There was also a lovely Spa/sauna and swimming pool. You do need a swim cap for the pool although you can buy one there. The boot lockers were also great. I think Passo Tonale is one of the best places to learn to ski as the slopes are gentle and the atmosphere is friendly. Will definitely go back to this resort and the hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for quiet room as there is a disco next door although we never heard anything as we asked for th...

My friend and I stayed at this hotel last week. It was fantastic. It is in the most perfect location for skiing as the slopes are directly outside the hotel. The staff are wonderful and hospitable. The food is good. A very pleasant experience. Would definitely use this hotel again.

Room Tip: Don't get one that faces onto the courtyard as there is a club next door and they play loud musi...

I wouldn't have guessed it was 4 star, I'd have said a decent 3 star on English ratings but provided you don't pay too much for it you really can't go wrong.

The hotel is ideally situated, just cross the road and you're onto the piste. There's free lockers under the hotel too so no need to worry where to store your equipment.

The food was really nice and a good variety to it, the wine was excellent too and not badly priced! (They'll even write your name on the bottle and save it for the next night - not that we needed this service mind ;-)) It was very busy on the weekend but you still got served ok and nothing ran out. They even serve Cheesecake for breakfast :-)

The Spa is amazing and was included in the price, you just needed the shower cap things for the pool. They also do robe hire, which we found out on the last night.

The bar underneath is nice enough, you don't hear anything of it at night.
The fabled receptionist is lovely, provided you're polite to her, which I think is fair enough.

2nd time in Tonale - 1st time in this Hotel and would definitely recommend it. We upgraded before we arrived to a Junior Suite and it was worth every penny had the most amazing view of the slopes - we requested a quiet room and that what we got it was so peaceful. Ignore prev comments about unfriendly staff, far from it ! Reception was always manned and nothing was a bother at any time - we had a slight electrical issue with a light in our room and within 5 mins the electrician was there and it was fixed. Food was good and plentiful of choice to accommodate all tastes - serving staff were very attentive and friendly especially Alina who looked after us all week. On night the hotel staff took charge of the kids and served them dinner in a different room, the main dinning hall was transformed into a romantic setting with low lights and candles with an organist playing - this was a lovely surprise and gave us parents a rare peaceful romantic evening meal. We travelled with our 13 year old son and there was plenty to occupy him in the hotel on an evening even though a bid old for kids club he was able to join in activities every night. The spa is first class with so many different rooms and just what you need after a long days skiing - take your own swimming cap unless you want to purchase one at 2 euros 50. The room was immaculate and cleaned every day - ours had complimentary gowns and slippers - no issues with hot water at all despite the prev reviews I have read - the showers were amazing. The location of the ski hire shop and ski storage could not have been closer underneath the hotel- 1st lift no more than 50 metres away, able to ski back to hotel and take off skis walking only 6 steps over the road to the hotel front door - now thats what I call door stop skiing ! I would definitely return to this hotel and would recommend to anybody only criticism I could make would be lack of T making facilities in the room - but we knew that before we went and took a travel kettle with us - other than that would not change a thing.

Room Tip: Rooms at front of hotel have great view of slopes and 3rd floor very quiet location

We booked through Thomas Cook a late Neilson ski deal and were offered a week at 4 star Hotel Sport Vittoria in Passo Tonale departing 28th Jan. We are a family Snowboarding experienced and skiing from total beginer to expereinced so a mixed bunch.
Despite arriving about 10pm a plentiful cold buffet was laid on for us. All week the rooms were kept very clean and they were very comfortable albeit basic layout with sufficient storage. The resturant was very good, excellent waiting staff and really nice food for dinner and an extensive breakfast choice buffet style. The bar was nice with a large beer at 4 euros or coke at 2 euros. The Spa Wellness area was the best I've experienced, very well equipped , clean and not overcrowded. We paid extra for massage 30 mins at 30 euros, there were a range of payable services and the massage was excellent. Ski Hire is downstairs very convenient and the ski room was easy access and well ventilated.
All in all we were very very pleased and would possibly go back on account of the excellent hotel, very varied and pleasurable skiing and snowboarding with runs for all abilites. The Neilson staff were very efficient indeed at this resort.
Only one critisism the kids club went on until 1030 pm which was too noisy near the lounge area.

Room Tip: For the price we paid our room was extremely satisfactory but we noticed the other wing was more lux...

We have just returned from this hotel for our annual ski break. I have felt compelled to jot down my thoughts as more often than not you only review if you have a bad time, and this was definitely not the case.
The reception: Always manned, always by friendly employees. I would discount earlier reviews on this matter
Rooms: Warm and quite spacious. Ours had a double bed with a sofa as well. The shower was very powerful, however we could hear the BASE coming from the disco every night (although this did not bother us or any in the group as we are not old or grumpy)
Food: Brilliant! You wont go hungry, we had three vegetarians in our group, all were catered for superbly.
The Spa: They need to put photos of this online, my word. 2 steam rooms, a jacuzzi, a sauna, ice rubs, a chill out room and pool. A visit was paid everyday after the slopes.
Location: Cross the road and your at the first lift. Perfect.
Ski area: Good for all with a good variety.
Would i go again: Without a doubt, yes
