I can assure the Galeon is the best restaurant because of the fresh outstanding products and the superb cooking of the chef. I've been eating in this restaurant since I was a child and you'll never be disappointed.
For those of you saying that is pricey, It's not a fair review. If you think about the quality, taste, the products and service you'll never get something better anywhere else. Especial mention for all seafood, fresh fish and desserts, they are so tasteful and elegant. Allways worth a visit.

Four of us decided to try the Galeón: We ordered Rape fish, Almejas a la Marinera , "Gambas a tempura with Cape", Squid with Ink, Rioja Wine and fresh break + bottled water. Service was slow yet when food started to come out of the kitchen it was the "very best"--both quality and taste. Everything was cooked to absolute perfection and the plates were served warm. The serving were large and almost too much. At the end of the meal we had "homemade cheese cake" and turon ice cream made by the Chef. To top it off had "Oreja Blanco" and "Oreja with Hierbas". The Perfect Meal---the Best in Somo!! As other restaurants go down hill--Galeón continues to EXCELL. Highly Recommend--none better in SOMO.

We ate here during our week long trip through Cantabria. We stayed in Somo for a total of 4 nights and there are a surprising number of decent restaurants in the area. They serve classic spanish seafood dishes and the steaks were of decent quality too. We ended up having grilled octopus with deliciousl olive oil mash and steak with chips.

The service was generally friendly despite the language barrier - they don't speak much english and the bread basket was nice too. As I mentioned in the summary, a little pricier than neighbouring restaraunts, but the portions are really massive so just a main course will fill you up.

The food - some rabas (squid), and a bonito (a sort of tuna) salad, was average at its best. The price we paid for them - 32 EUROS, incredibly expensive, including a cup of average red wine and a Coca Cola, considering the quality of the food. And the service was simply appalling. Rather than welcoming, we felt like if we were a nuisance, a bother for the waitress, who treated us as if she was doing us a favour. She even forgot the salad and the wine, and after being left somewhere for almost five minutes (we could see them from our table), someone else from the staff had to tell her that they had been waiting for too long.
