The chalet was beautiful with a breathe taking view. Was quite hard to find at first but given directions from the owner (would recommend arriving before it gets dark). Private parking space included. The hill walking down the chalet was a challenge and maybe not suitable for the elderly but it didn’t but us off at all. Would definatly recommend as a perfect beach retreat. The weather was sun, snow and showers but watching it all in the chalet was lovely. Was very clean and spacious for 2, only downfall was the tv channels/aerial on a rainy day. Will be back! Was greeted with wine, local bread and grapes which was a nice gesture. We visited Looe which was around a 30 minute drive, a place to visit lots of little shops, bakery’s and cafes and of course a lovely beach. Polperro was also a nice place to visit which was 10 minutes down the road from Looe.
My Wife had booked a week here as a getaway from home to forget about work and relax without a care. For me, as I work from home, it was a change of scenery to decamp for a week - It was bliss.
The scenery is stunning with the changeable weather, the beach is sand (at low tide) and dog friendly, with RNLI in attendance as well as a cafe. I think you can do some surf / sup (stand-up paddleboard) activity here too - Best of all, it's not busy at all (maybe in part due to the steep walk down).
The cottage has one bedroom with a double bed and a double 'day bed' in the living area, so in theory two couples could stay, we just lounged on it, taking in the view. There is grass stretching the frontage of the cottage with decking area to the bedroom side with chairs and a sunbed. These areas are protected from the wind by a glass screen that runs the length of the property... it works.
Kitchen is compact and well apointed with utensils, toaster, kettle, Nespresso machine, fridge as well as a freezer and washing machine in the outside store room.
Access to the property is down a pathway about a 250m walk. It is relatively inclined which is much more noticeable walking back up, especially if you have luggage. If you struggle and tire easily with slight gradients, maybe this is something to think about. There is a carpark space provided at the top, where there is also a wheelbarrow for your ease of carting your stuff to and from the cottage.
Kingsand and Cawsand as are just a few minutes in the car should you wish to dine out or Millbrook, where there is a Co-Op.
The Cottage is dog friendly in and out, though I wouldn't leave your dog in there as we found the temperature rises quite quickly during the day without the doors or windows open during this summer period (it was 20ish DegC - Sunny).
Overall a wonderful, special place to unwind and relax. Thanks to Paul for opening his place for rent and allowing us this experience
This really has been done to perfection. It is such an enjoyable space to be in. The views are quite breathtaking and everything flows so well. The beds and sheets were really comfortable as was all the furniture. Just a perfect spot. You won't want to leave.
