I stayed in the 3-bedroom cottage with husband and brothers and sisters-in-law. Our whole family was delighted - others had the chalet and various hotel rooms. Andrew and Sue and their lovely daughters (also Andrew's Mum and Dad) all made us welcome. They worked extremely hard throughout the wedding day and evening, not one hitch. The food was delicious, and drinks from the bar very well priced. We joined wedding guests for breakfast in the hotel, and had a breakfast on our last morning. Again, all very good - fresh, hot, varied and vegetarians catered for.
The whole place is very homely and comfortable, you will not feel on edge if taking children or dogs. Our grandchildren were in the chalet and loved the pool etc. Most things are well used, but I don't mean this as a criticism - lots of good amenities and a nice n easy atmosphere. Gardens lovely and Dotty the dog very friendly. Other dog and peacocks, ponies there but in the background. On the Thursday we had a great night in the bar and Andrew and his girls treated us to an impromptu guitar session and sing-song. It was very jolly and a perfect night in!
Wonderful views from the gardens and extended grounds, the walk to Cawsand and Kingsand is of medium difficulty (in decent shoes), and is brilliant - down the fields with great views of the sea, boats etc. Had some fab food in Halfway House Inn and Devonport Inn. A few shops for essentials, tho Sue had left us a few nice provisions to get us started.
The drive down the lanes is a bit hairy til you get used to it!
Half way through our stay, Sue left us saffron cake, clotted cream and jam in the cottage. We were treated like friends and would all definitely go again. Good value, not too expensive
