Pousada Beira Mar has an oceanfront location where at high tide the beach disappears, but you can still lounge on their terrace and walk down their private stair to swim, then walk back up to your towel--all out of reach of the swarms of vendors selling, selling, selling (tchatkes, sarongs, food etc etc). Porto Galinhas was ideal for the many vacationers we saw enjoying throngs of people and all shopping all the time. While the town wasn't for us we enjoyed the Pousada. The multilingual staff was friendly and professional, the room clean and airy, and breakfast was generous. When I was curious about the crepes, the cook invited me into the kitchen and showed me how to prepare a tapioca (a crepe made with manioc flour). There are two pousadas with the same name--we stayed at the one in the center of town on the beach.

We stayed three nights at this pousada and had an overall pleasant stay. We had one of the three superior rooms with a view of the sea. The room was clean, very spacious and comfortable. We had a great terrace with a hammock. I do agree with the previous post that the standard rooms are very tiny and dark. Our experience with the room would have been very different if we had booked one of these. The breakfast was delicious and staff were friendly. The beachfront location can't be beat. The pousada does have parking and is well connected for those who want to do tours. They provide sunloungers and there's a bar. Overall, recommended if you get a superior room or don't mind small rooms.

We stayed here for 3 nights, and whilst the location couldn´t be better, the room we had to stay in (6) was no good. When we went in it was swarming with mosquitoes, and smelt really damp. We spent a good ten minutes fumigating the room (and had to do so every day). When it came to sleeping, we both had the worst sleep of our lives...the pillows were corrugated foam and the mattress was foam also - so we both couldn´t sleep. The worst came when we tried to shower - no hot water came out, so my fiance came to help by turning the switch on the shower. He was promptly electrocuted! When we got someone to help, he said it was our fault! If the weather´s good and you don´t need to stay in the rooms much then Beira Mar is ok, however, if, like us, the weather was not great and you need a nice comfy room to chill in, then this is most certainly not the place!
