Tall Trees Motel
Reviewed 8 April 2012

Stayed one night here and glad it wasn't any longer than that. Where do I start? Upon arriving, noticed the garden was overgrown with weeds and looked like it really needed some TLC. Reception was locked up and had to ring someone to get our key. Entered our room and the room smelt musty. The front window wouldn't lock so we weren't happy leaving anything in our room unattended. There are only 2 pillows in the room and they are very thin. No extra pillows stored in the cupboard, just a spare blanket. The standard of cleanliness was very poor, the hair dryer in the bathroom was caked with dust, like it hadn't been touched in 6 months! The blue hand towels were covered in white lint. Also, there was no bathmat so we had to stand on cold tiles when in the bathroom. To top it all off there was a blown light bulb, which normally wouldn't worry me but adding it all up it was funny.
Time to open the fridge and check out our complimentary breakfast items. Butter expired 3 months ago, jams and spreads all expired 2 months ago. mmmm yum. No bread as a previous review mentioned.
I believe this place might have been good once, but feels like it has just been run down. It boasts 4 stars from RACQ, but I think they need to update that! It doesn't help that the pub located next door has closed down. I also think they should remove the dinner menu from their guest book for the pub which is now closed!!
The location is pretty good, but with so many other great places in the same area, I really couldn't recommend this place. I will definitely not be staying here again.

Stayed one night on the way through Mt Tamborine. It's a 60s style little motel with an overgrown garden. Great location among the tall trees of north Mt Tamborine.
Simple place but very clean, inexpensive for the area and with nice touches like free breakfast ingredients and a toaster and microwave in the room.

On a recent 'girls week-end', my friend, her 3yr old son and myself stayed at the quaint little Tall Trees Motel, located at the bottom of Eagle Heights on Mount Tamborine.

Perfect for as an over-nighter, the motel was very clean, neat, comfortable and central to everything. Right next door was a pub, next door to that was a Pizza place and an Ice Cream shop, across the road a fantastic Indian restaurant (where we had a fantastic meal!). 5mins walk up the hill was 'touristville' Eagle Heights with its fabulous art galleries, shops, winery cellar doors and the cheese factory. Directly across the road was a bush walk that took you to the very pretty Curtis Falls.

This was a lovely motel, as I said, very clean - in fact the bathroom was one of the cleanest bathrooms I'd ever seen in a motel. The 'kitchen' was well stocked with tea/coffee, cereals, bread for toast and a selection of jams and butter.

If looking for something in a good price range for just one night, this place is perfect. If wanting something romantic, indulgent or for longer then better off with one of the many B&B's on the mountain, but otherwise, Tall Trees fits the bill for an overnight, backpacker or even a family budget.

My friends & I stayed in the Family room for the evening of Saturday 12 March. It's one room with 1 x QS bed and 2 x single beds. Not much room for anything else. Huge LCD TV on wall (almost too large for the room). Complimentary tea, coffee and cereal. Really nice front balcony area. Motel is well located: opposite to rainforest and only a couple mins drive to Gallery Walk and North Tamborine cafes and pubs. Our room was a little smelly from mould, but was ok after an airing out. Bathroom was small, but workable and clean. Definitely good as a one-evening place. Not many other places on the mountain offer just one night's accomm, so this one is good for that. We walked up to Clancy's Irish pub for dinner and drinks. It's a fabulous pub with lively atmosphere. Would definitely stay there again.
