Having tried all of the hotels in Cluny over many years I am thrilled to have discovered this hotel open for the last two. Neither pretentious nor expensive we will be returning next year on our way south and on the return.
A few minutes walk from the main tourist areas of the town it has a very authentic feel. Run by a local man and his Thai wife the blending of French and Thai cultures is evident both in the decor and menus in the restuarant.
The room we had was small but beautifully decorated in a contemporay simple way. The shower is good! The wifi works well.
In the restaurant we were surrounded by local people, always a good sign.
The food was really excellent, combining Thai elements with local products “Burgon-Thai” as the menu has it. The menus on wheels were fun. The wine and drinks list included some interesting items, local wines were especially evident and reasonably priced.
Breakfast was generous and included local fruits. Taizé redcurrants and (at dinner Taizé ice creams).
The proprietors and other staff were exceptionally warm and welcoming, as often, their English putting our French to shame.
Recommended without reservation and a great stopping off point for the journey to and from Calais and the Med/Provence. And handy for Taizé too.More
