We were on vacation in San Casciano for 10 days and went to eat there for dinner 3 times ! They have a very large choice of pizza and the service is good and fast... I suggest that you try the pasta with pistachio's pesto... Incredible !!! Enjoy !

Cute little place that couldn't be more Italian. I had the sausage pizza made with local sausage, and my daughter had the truffle pizza. Best pizza we've ever had in the world, and such a cute little medieval village to boot!

Last visited in 2009 and we returned to find nothing had changed almost 8 years on. We went as 2 adults and 2 children and had pizzas and pasta, the pizzas are made in front of you and popped in the wood burning oven, the pasta and side dishes are great. Prices are very low. The diavola pizza is great, the spaghetti pomodoro was lovely, it's all good in a very welcoming atmosphere. Aided by the presence of 2 drunk older English men (in their 60s) complaining about a lack of carbonara and an absence of garlic bread - comedy gold which the waitress dealt with with total aplomb!

Excellent pizza made by real Italians in the restaurant.
In fine weather the eating area is on the street in a pedestrian area. At other times it is downstairs hence the title.

San Casciana is not really a tourist area and it is likely that the other guests will be locals. The waiting staff do not speak English but the menus have English descriptions and there should not be any problem with ordering.
The staff are pleasant and the service is prompt given that they are cooking from scratch.

The ovens are within the restaurant so beware sitting inside on a hot night it could be warm. The prices are very reasonable.
Give it a try.

We were recently staying in a nearby village, Romola, and by chance found Sotto Casa as we were exploring San Casciano. What a great surprise, as we found it to be a great place for our family of 5, with great food at a great price. Also, the service was incredible! We loved it so much we ate there 3 nights in a row!! As a family, there was no debate, we all wanted to go back to Sotto Casa. Thanks guys for your amazing service!
