Delightful walk with plenty of places to take a coffee or eat something. The walk is separated from the road so you are not bothered with cars
After taking the public bus (Grandma, Mom and Baby), we spent the afternoon exploring the fort, walking on the boardwalk and watching the surfers.Lunch at one of the local restaurants is highly recommended, with grilled fish topping the list. A pleasant find was a new shop/cafe called Chelo Coast House selling high quality coffee drinks and smoothies, handcrafted bicycles and gorgeous handmade cork/leather bags.
This is a really nice beach! And also my peace of heaven after work. Can't get enough at listening the waves. And the sunsets here are just pure magic.
Matosinhos is situated in the northern part of Port.
There are two way to go to Matosinhos –by bus or metro.
We took the double decker bus #500 from Aliados to Matosinhos. The bus travel along the coaster road and it is very scenic.
We went in the morning and most of the shop and restaurant is not open yet.
There is a market in Matosinhos selling fresh sea food ,fruits and vegetable.
There is a tourist information centre and oil refinery near the beach.
On the way back we found Foz along the way and it is more interesting than Matoshinos.
We got down from the bus and walked along the coast enjoying the sounds of waves.
Foz is situated in the western part of Porto where the Douro River meets the Atlantic Ocean.
There are many nice house in this area.
This vast beach was so beautiful. The waves here are amazing if you like to surf. The water temperature was very cold however with the sun blazing at 26degree's it was lovely to be able to cool down by dipping your feet in.
I would highly recommend the 30 minute metro journey from main Port.
Great place to people watch, see surfers and just relax! We enjoyed it very much walking from the end of the tram from downtown, took maybe 45 minutes walking slowly where we had a beautiful Lunch in Matosinhos .
We walked along the promenade beside the beach. If you are interested in surfing there are several rentals on the beach which also provide surfing lessons. Lots of restaurants and bars along the way.
Place which i can recomend for a for a surfing, cool waves ^^ The beach was't super clean... Luckely not that far from a city:)
This is Porto’s main beach
Windswept today on the back of hurricane Leslie
Quite a dramatic sight
Must be great in good weather
Loved the Matosinhos beach in Porto. You can take surf lessons there or just enjoy the beach. The beach is easily reachable by bus nr 500.
