We ate here twice, they have lovely fresh and creative food, and a range of vegan options, in addition to great meat and fish dishes. The service is good, with a very funny waiter, and the location in the alley is charming. Very much recommended!

This was our second time to this quaint and charming restaurant. The staff were amazing ... Iñaki ( hope i am spelling it correctly) was so friendly, attentive, descriptive and helpful on all the dishes offered. We loved the creative versions of Salmorejo, Russian Salad, beef and fish dishes....excellent wines ....we will be back! Thank you -- bonus it is located in Conil!

El Escondite de Conil serves inventive and quirky dishes with flair - all beautifully presented. It has a very loyal following and we were really lucky to secure a table without booking. Don't go there if you wan't to 'dine and dash' as patience is required - just settle in for a few hours and savour the wonderful flavours!

It's expensive by Conil standards and the service isn't as slick as it should be - but the staff were lovely, including the new (Uruguayan?) waiter who was very friendly and keen to do a good job. The creativity of the chef sets it apart from everywhere else in Conil.

After seeing el escondite as one of the top restaurants of Conil, expectations were high. First impression was good, for the 2 vegans in our group there was even a seperate menu. The second look however revealed mixed messages. One one hand the reastaurant had a very alternative flair (no plate was the same, no chair was the same, directly on the street etc) but this was combined with haute-cusine and expensive prices (e.g. 20Euro+ for a meat dish). The menucard was hand-written and partially unreadable. The water came in plastic bottles. Our waiter seemed to be new at the place and had no idea bout the menu and was overall underqualified, however he spoke some english and did his best. But bad staff is unacceptable when paying double price. We ordered something and food came quickly but while some got their ordered startes, other already recieved their main menu, and others had to wait 5 minutes more! On top of that 2 items were delivered wrong! So we had to eat independently. The ordered steak came with NOTHING else, just meat... So after seing that, we had to order a side of potatoes just to get some sort of carbs to complete the menu. I agree with other reviewers that the food was good, but in my opinion the cook tried to combine too many flavours. I can imagine that you will have a better expirience if you speak some spanish and recieve a more expirienced waiter. For vegans most likely still the best option in Conil.

We went there for dinner after we saw a lot of good reviews on trip and order a lot of dishes; we wait almost an hour and 1/2 for all to come and with no special order. The soup (organic and very tasty but small and expensive), potatoes with black sauce (very, very bad), board with cheese(not impressive), Pulpo with mashed potatoes(not bad), fois gras (very big and tasty but not impressive), Meet with tomato sauce (good), Tomato salad (not good and very expensive), Smoked Tuna (maybe the best choice), we wait to long feel abandoned by the waiter and overall it was not a good experience.
