Weather during last week of april not good-two days completely overcast, 5 days mixture of cloud, sun and light rain.
We booked hotel direct withH10,flights with thomson and transfer with last minute-this saved us about £400-00
On arrival checked in early as booked a transfer through last minute [who were excellent]
but were left waiting on the rubicon train for ages , for the first choice flight customers to arrive .
Despite joining the H10 club and requesting a ground floor room close too the facilities we were given a room near to the edge of the resort with two flights of stairs [not good with a pushchair]
Did not ask for another room as didnt want to move luggage around continous flights of steps.
The room was good and we received voucher for cava, bathrobes, slippers and gift of salsas. The room had 2 large beds ,flat screen tv, a large bathroom and a large balcony with sunloungers with a side seaview. The toiletries included soap, shampoo, shower gel, body lotion, tissues a comb and toothbrushes.
We hired a safe for 17 euros but found that the batteries had been taken. We had to wait 2 hours for someone to come with the batteries despite repeatedly telling reception we wanted to go out.
The food and drinks choice is excellent for an AI hotel. The waiter and bar staff are friendly and hard working.
Minclubs - took my boy who is 3 and a half to the 1-3 age club which was empty, was told that he would find it childish and to take him to the 4-8 club on the other side of resort- they said that they could not take him.
The entertainment is ok, the professional shows especially spiro and a group of 3 violinist and spanish dancers [cant remember name] were very good, the hotel team was not great , a tribute to michael jackson[ but only a couple of staff can dance] and comedy nights -not aimed at british people. Entertainment staff all nationalities except British.
The overall appearance of the hotel is impressive , the main bars, restaurants, reception is situated in the main building with glass lifts. The terrace bar is lovely with views over the resort.
The hotel rooms are then spread around like a village design.
Maintenance of the hotel needs attention, missing pool tiles, broken slabs around the pool and nails sticking out of the bridge.
On checking out the receptionist didnt even ask if we enjoyed our stay.

The extra money to upgrade to Privilege is well worth it. There are allocated rooms and you get your table in the set apart restaurant with excellent waiting staff.

The hotel is set in lovely grounds and is kept immaculate.

Plenty to do if you want it and adequate sun loungers around the many pools.

Wonderful walks along promenade to Lighthouse or other way into Playa Blanca and on to the Marina

Evening entertainment not great but OK

Management work hard to make the atmosphere welcoming and friendly, a place where you can really relax. We shall certainly return

Perhaps our only criticism would be the large number of French guests.

Good Stay.

Short trip from Airport and first drop off which is good.
Check-in was quick despite a near coach load checking in. Extra staff soon arrived to assist.
Reception staff very friendly, helpful and explained all about the hotel.
A long wait for the curtsey train to take you to your room. We walked
Very good position of room overlooking pool.
Some rooms are a bit out of the way but always worth asking to move if possible.

We travelled with Thompson and found the 2 Reps excellent. The welcome meeting was very informative and helpful. Nothing too pushy.

We had emailed the hotel before arrival asking for a nice room as we had the H10 club cards. Not worth paying for any upgrade as the hotel and food is perfectly good without the extras.
The room was huge, more of a suite than a room. Large bathroom, double sinks, nice shower and some nice toiletries.
Beds were comfortable and the room kept very clean, with fresh towels every day.
Mini-bar which was expensive, but no real need to use it on an all inclusive holiday. Handy for keeping bottled water cold.
Beach towels had a 10 Euro deposit and 50cent charge if you wanted them changed.
The room safe is 17Euros which I find excessive and cant recall many hotels charging this. If it was more like 5 euros then more people would be inclined to use them.
There were plenty of sun beds and some quite places if you want to get away from other guests.

We travelled here in March so the weather was a little cool at times and had 1 totally cloudy day. Very much SAGA type guests at this time of year or parents with pre school age children. (nothing wrong with either before you say). The pools are vast but were very cold in March.

Worth hiring a car to explore the island, check with the nice lady at the car rental desk near reception. Well worth going to Fire mountain but get there early as it gets very busy. Lots of nice views along the coastal roads.
(you could tour most of the island in one day, maybe two.)

The hotel has a very nice spa, worth getting a 5 visit ticket for 25Euros.Stay as long as you like in the spa.

All the Hotel staff were friendly and helpful.

Meals are all buffet style help yourself, and there is a huge choice. Help yourself to wine, beer, soft drinks and water etc from the pumps. Waiters generally cleared the tables very quickly after each course. There was a different theme every day, inc chinese,Italian,Spanish,Indian. Always something for even the fussy eaters.
The restaurant does get really busy especially at breakfast.
We were completely satisfied with the Buffet restaurant, so much so that we didn’t even try the Ala carte Italian restaurant.

The piano bar is the place for evening entertainment which includes piano players
and singers. The Animation team do their show in the theatre. We found the shows somewhat boring or tacky. Give them 10/10 for trying though.

Its worth a day trip over to Fuerteventura on the Ferry. (approx 20 Euros and half hour crossing) Thompson reps can get you a discounted ticket. there are some stunning sandy beaches here which is such a contrast to Lazarote. Tends to be a few naturists around, so watch where you go. If you want to hire a car over there its probably better to go on a midweek rather than weekend as you can not hire a car for a day on a Sat/Sun.
Good location to walk to the centre of the town

After spending 4 nights in a timeshare resort in Puerta del Carmen, my wife and I called the Rubicon and booked a sea facing room for 3 nights. We returned to the UK on May 3rd 2012. We had stayed there in 2003 and so knew the hotel from that time. The location is stunning and gardens and pool areas are very well maintained. Running along the edge of the property is a paved walkway which runs along the coast into the town which is around 30-45 minutes walk if you take it easy. It passes several hotels and a beach with sunbeds on the way. We were allocated room 9918 which after unpacking, we found is directly above the Sport Bar. Although it closes at 1am we didn't hear any noise. Staff in the hotel are excellent and always willing to oblige. Everything in the hotel was as we remembered from our previous visit with possibly one exception. We didn't feel that the food at breakfast and dinner (both buffet style) was as good as 9 years ago. There was a reasonable choice but perhaps the economy has caused the hotel chain to cut back. Nevertheless, anyone staying there would be hard-put to go hungry. If we take another holiday in Lanzarote, we would definitely consider staying at the Rubicon again.

Room Tip: Pay a little extra to get a sea facing room. They face south and have excellent views of Fuertevent...

Me & my girlfriend stayed at this hotel on 29/04/12 till 06/05/12, can't fault the hotel for anything. Pools were a little cold but what do you expect for early summer. Food was fantastic do much choice & variety to suit everyone's taste especially my partner who is usually very fussy. Staff couldn't help enough always smiling and very helpful. Room was spacious & clean, large bathroom & balcony which was nice when we got the sun in the morning. Entertainment staff tried very hard and had other people come In and do shows, sadly no karaoke but nevermind :) we shall definitely be returning to this hotel next year for 2 weeks next time as a week
Was just to short. Hotel was sadly missed as we departed lanzarote. Train that takes you & luggage to room is a nice touch, ignore all the bad reviews as then people just have to moan about everything as we found the place perfect..... So stop reading & go book it :) happy holidays!!!

Went to Rubicon Palace for week last October and had such a great holiday decided to go back again. Returned yesterday from 2 weeks at hotel and had a great time. Staff are very friendly and cannot do enough for you. Staff are working all the time keeping hotel spotlessly clean and grounds very well maintained. We saw gardeners working hard every morning as we strolled into breakfast just after 8am. The pools are thoroughly cleaned several times a week and we saw them collecting water samples to ensure water safe. Never any problem getting a sunbed any time of day around one of the five pools although you still get people putting their towels on sunbeds because they must sit in a certain place. Also no problem ever getting a table in restaurant. Just wander in and sit where you like, whether it is inside restaurant or outside area which can be nice when it is hot. Just watch birds as they are very brave swooping down and helping themselves if you are not careful. This also applies to pool bar where you can sit inside or outside and birds watch when people bring food to an outside table. We saw birds helping themselves to food from plates even when people were sitting at the table. The food is of a very high standard and lots of choice. The children loved the chocolate fountain with fresh strawberries. The hotel is set on the seafront with a wonderful promenade. We walked into Playa Blanca town six times during our stay. It took an hour to walk in at first but we got it down to 40 minutes as we became fitter. You can catch the bus outside the hotel and I think it is around 2euros fare each way. There are lots of little shops in Playa Blanca and at least half are Chinese owned and sell lots of things very cheaply. The bags, clothes, watches etc. are very cheap and very stylish. Trouble is you can't get them all home because of luggage weight! We love this hotel because although it is big, and there are a lot of people, it never seems crowded because of the extent of the grounds. The rooms are in different blocks so you don't have loads of people passing your room late at night making noise, in fact it was very quiet at night. The evening entertainment was excellent. There are two different entertainment areas. On the middle floor for children and a 10pm show, or the top floor in the Piano Bar more for adults with varied entertainment from a pianist, to singers and guitarists. There was never any trouble getting drinks, waitress service, or at bar with virtually no queue. I cannot think of a bad thing to say about hotel. In the past two weeks it was mainly Brits, Spanish and a lot of French people. We will be going back again for sure

Room Tip: The privilege rooms are on the front with the best sea views but on the two occasions we have stayed...
