We booked here for two nights because of the allegedly 9.1 reviews but I think they have got really complacent now. Our room keys did not work, went down three times and we have to put up with the rude and belittling front desk staff. Eventually we got it to work with a new room card key, no fault as ours as she insisted. No apology either. Room appears to be relatively well kept. Charged extra for parking.

In the center of the old town. It is nicely decorated, great food and about 20 minutes from Andorra.
Its a much nicer play to stay than in Andorra. We ate one of the best croquetas ever, although everything was good. The room had a little balcony with a beautiful view of the mountains and it was big and with a good bathroom.

This is another modern Parador in the small town of La Seu de Urgell.

The room (room 314) was modern and spacious but the view was uninspiring.

Parking was curious. There is a closed and gated yard opposite the Parador. Part of this includes a building for parking and putting your car in there costs extra. But if you want even more security, there is a garage under the Parador for a little more money. But La Seu de Urgell doesn't look like a hot bed of crime.

There isn't a great deal to do in the town. The cathedral (unfinished) is very old and worth a visit and the park built to house the Olympic artificial white water canoe course is a nice stroll. We ate lunch in the park cafe and the were helpful and friendly. Two nights is enough ... unless I missed something.

The town with its arcades was pleasant even in the heat of the day.

You are now, well and truely, in this place called Catalonia. As we drove down from Arties the bridges and signs started to sprout yellow ribbons. As an outsider, I learnt that, on entering a shop or restaurant, it is a good idea to say 'Bon dia' rather than 'Buenos dias'.

The food in the Parador was good and the service was fine.

One criticism, reception forgot to offer me a voucher for discount on a meal in the next Parador.

Unlike other Paradores where we stayed, this is located in town, on the edge (or maybe inside) the old town. Out the door and turn a corner, and on Saturday morning it's market day -- great selection, when we were there, of meat, cheeses & fresh fruit. Walk a few more minutes and you're at the Olympic park, with artificial whitewater rapids that were used in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics and where we watched a kayak slalom competition. It's a short drive to Andorra (didn't go) and a half-hour drive to the tiny town of Cava, where we did a mountain hike (make sure you have the map on Google Earth...trail isn't marked as well as it should). With so many choices to eat in the area, we did not have breakfast or dinner here.

We booked direct for a two night stay and being amigos of the Paradores (well worth joining it's free and you receive a welcome glass of wine and good internet deals) we received complimentary breakfast. As with most Paradores the room was spacious, with a reasonable bathroom. The breakfast was as in Paradores vast with a multitude of options. The service was attentive. We did not ulitise the on site parking, there was ample free parking in large car parks a few minutes walk away. Our only issues were firstly noise related, under our window we were in our room 314 was the Hotels air conditioning unit, which necessitated closing our bedroom window at night due to the noise. The building although architectially inivative, the architect failed to consider noise transfer between rooms, particularly from the room above. Secondly, the mattress was way too firm and prevented a relaxing sleep. Howver it was otherwise a pleasant stay in a very enjoyable town.
