“Terrible rooms - will never return”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 August 2011

Hotel is located just above two lovely small sandy public beaches and views are spectacular. The common parts of the hotel itself are what one expects from a 4 star hotel and breakfast was okay. The problems started as soon as we entered our room.

We are writing to show our disappointment with the rooms we have been assigned on check-in. We spent our first night in a sub-standard room, with the following shortcomings:

1. No safe in room
2. No sea views when we specifically asked for ocean rooms with sea views - reservation was made nearly 2 months ago
3. No shelving whatsoever in shower cubicle
4. No wifi in room - in 2011 in a 4 star hotel?!
5. No mirror in room except in bathroom
6. Shower curtain is a very cheap accessory for a 4 star
hotel - rod is not even attached to wall - spring type
7. Water pressure is not adequate and moving shower head around changes the water temperature drastically from normal to very hot - this is a quite serious safety issue
8. Drinks in mini bar are not cold - ie. not working
9. Nowhere to place luggage except on floor
10. For electricity in room we have to use card for beach towel!
11. Floor is not cleaned properly - paint drops are still scattered around
12. There is a security issue - too close to road level - very easy to break into our rooms
13. Walls are completely bare - except for TV - no pictures, as if someone just finished painting it and had no time to re-fit.

Our conclusion is that this room should have never been given to us in the first place because, as hotel manager confirmed, they have been recently renovated - too
recently in our view since they are far from the basic standards required in a four star hotel. When we complained (even by email) we were given another room for the following 2 nights - what I still fail to understand is how the manager still tried to convince us that the original room we were given was a free upgrade!

The room we were given for the final 2 nights had sea views - the problem was that this room was very tired and in need of serious renovation. Do you expect to find broken tiles and corroding fittings in bathroom, an exposed main power switch, damaged furniture surfaces, or torn and stained curtains in a 4 star hotel? I surely don't.

Please note that we just spent the last 3 nights at the Silken Ramblas in Barcelona and none of the above issues were a problem - rooms had everything you expect from a 4
star hotel.

I cannot understand how this hotel has so many good reviews - I chose to stay here just for that reason - probably they have different rooms for different people. I will never return to this hotel and I would strongly suggest to anyone to look elswhere when booking a hotel in this region.

We highly appreciate our customers reviews and comments, taking them as an opportunity to improve, taking the measures to solve the problems and never repeat them. Once said that, we cannot accept tendencious reviews or false pictures used in bad purposes. Thousands of clients visit our hotel every year, most part of them repeating the experience, and even though that things can always be better and that we are keeping learning and trying to improve, we proudly can say that our customer global satisfaction level is more than 80%. Our commitment is keep on growing.

What makes this hotel special is its location. It is situated in a stunning position - overlooking the Mediterranean between 2 beautiful, clean coves, and away from the built-up tourist areas of Platja d'Aro.

We stayed in one of the suites (2 adults, 2 children aged 7 and 11), which was comfortable for a family of 4. The reception staff speak (at least) spanish, french and english. The pool is large, clean and beautifully located.

We 've been there for 3 nights in june 2011. We booked on internet a "sea view room with private balcony". Finaly we got a hudge room on the first floor (level -2) very close to the sea but the view was not so good, compare to the smaller rooms up to the swimming pool which overhang the sea (and weren't offer on internet). They offer on internet what they want to sell on internet.
Positive points:
The beach (sunshade is 5 euros per day) and the big swiming pool. the hotel is very quiet. Location.
Negative points:
You can not enjoy the breakfast at the beautifull terrace. Indeed the terrace is reserved for the morning business meeting. Instead you have the breakfast in a sad canteen with air con. It's an old refectory with see view and hospital windows.
Staff is very (too) discrete, cold, not smiling, and very busy with the business event arrangements.

We hoped to have found a great hotel, located directly on a beautiful beach.
We were given a room with a very big terrace badly kept, above the roof of the restaurant.
The kitchen was near, and one could smell that. The food was as bad as the smell.
The first night we ordered à la carte, that was not possible, a small buffet was set and the service was bad.
Breakfast was OK, but the tables dirty and not cleaned sufficiently after use.
There was a another, nice restaurant, but we never saw it used.
The pool is not very nice, the public beach just some 30 steps down is great.
Take care if you have a problem walking.

We have different room types with sea-view, the ones with a better-view are called "The Shore Rooms", and also the suite on third floor which are named as "Supreme". The rooms on the ground floor are a basic standard but they also have a brand-new terrace with a nice sea-view.
We have one gastronomic Restaurant "à la carte" with daily fresh fish from our coast, and another restaurant with a buffet of starters, main course on choice, and assorted desserts (with daily pastry from our bakery). Now it is also possible to have breakfast on the terrace.

A lovely place, right on a bay with views to die for and a lovely room with all the facilities you could want. Good bathroom with great goodies (including razor and gel) and aftershave! Staff went out of their way to help and we upgraded to a lovely room for very little. Buffet breakfast had everything - both hot and cold and was constantly refilled. do be aware that parking is eigth euro per night with very few places outside to leave a car. The other small downside was the safe in the room was four euro fifty per night - you don't expect to pay to keep your valuables safe. Overall, excellent choice as a touring centre and it is easy to get onto the Camino Real walking trail for special views around each bend.

The location of this hotel is wonderful, the majority of rooms directly overlook the sea, tiny sandy beaches and pine trees.

Our room had annoying 'separated' beds, but was well equipped with newish bath/shower and an extensive range of complimentary toiletries. Very efficient a/c and heating. Whilst the television had an impressive 35 channels, very sadly only 3 seemed to be in English!

Breakfast buffet provided a good selection of both hot and cold dishes. Restaurant and reception staff were were efficient rather than over-friendly. Open air swimming pool and spa were not available to use, as our visit was off-season. Extra charge to park car - 8 euros per night!

We very much enjoyed our weekend at the hotel and plan to return in the near future.
