Şanlıurfa was my first stop of my East Turkey trip. I stayed at Elçi Konağı for one night. The building and the people work there were quite far beyond of my expectations. Historical church complex renovated and turned into a boutique hotel with a cosy ambiance. The property is located on Vali Fuat street and close to city center. Pool of Sacred Fish and citadel is accessible on foot easily as well. Mehmet, the administrator was very friendly and gave me lost of information about Urfa culture and thre city itself. My room had a private small terrace with a city view and the room was straight facing to road. It was a bit noisy i can say.
The only two negative things for me: the bathroom is embedded in room with wooden wall and ventilation is not really good. And shower heating needs to be upgraded immediately.
I highly recommend everyone to experience traditional local hotels like this totally compatible with city's soul.More
