Casela park is a fantastic place that must be visited! I recently went there (02.04.2018) as part of a group and enjoyed every moment of it! A day is not enough to enjoy all the activities and to see all the animals in there. The parrots are so colourful and cute, they are not afraid to come closer to people (I even received a friendly bite on my finger).

Later, had a walk to remember with the giant turtles and visited the farm animals. The best experience I had was the interaction with the lions. In the beginning, we had a safety briefing and all took a stick. All the instructions given were clear so we had the best experience ever. Managed to get closer to two young lions, one male (I forgot his name) and the beautiful Makali which translates as Moon. The instructor introduced all the lions to us and told us many interesting stories.

Overall, the park is a wonderful place which cannot be missed when visiting Mauritius. It also gets quite busy, so be prepared to wait for a while (it is worth it in the end!). Thank you everyone for the great experience!

I have been going to Casela for over 15 years when I visit family on the island. I have watched it grow and expand in that time. As always this year proved no different to previous years and we had a lovely day out with plenty to do for all ages and abilities. A couple of things to note though, despite the safari buses the park still requires a reasonable amount of walking so be prepared for this. The mosquitoes are worse up in the mountains than on the beach so take repellent (this has never detracted on a day here for us and I am allergic to their bites so don't be put off). You are not allowed to take picnics in, but there are plenty of places to by food from. There are lots of activities but health and safety isn't quite what you might be used to in the UK/Europe. Areas that need improvement are that the toilets aren't that clean and the bird area is now looking very dated by comparison to other parts of the park. These desperately need some TLC. And some of the enclosures are quite small. Overall though it is well worth a trip and keeps the whole family amused.

Thank Wienette

I went to casela today with family of 13pax today 2.04.2018

Upon arrival,we were assisted by Sneha at the till who was very cold in terms of reception..no smile..no welcome.

What i did not appreciate is that we were not told about other packages available - having experience in the tourism industry, it is a front liner's duty to try nd sell a package that suites a group of people.

After entering the park and paying for our tickets,we proceeded to the Bird section by which we learned from one of the staff that as we are a 13 pax,we could have taken a family package that has a meal included.

We were very disappointed by this as this was not communicated to us by a frontliner who has to duty to sell the best package to her clients.

Another issue is..today is Easter Monday and there was alot of customers ..upon going for the safari at 15300 hrs because of a very slow level of progress at the main till outside the park (we arrived at 11 am and we only started the walk around the park at 1200 noon..long line at the toboggan as well as long line to get a simple picture) had to wait for almost 15mins for the truck to take us to the location..another 10mins for another truck to take us to the actual safari location.

The safari was very rapid..not even a good 30mins..it was very rushed. We were only shown ostriches, impala, nyala&kudus and the rhinos..no zebras spotted _ but on a positive note,a special thanks to Joanne who was our guide for the ride..very friendly, extrovert passionate for her job (maybe she should show the others at the front desk how to speak to customers) she was very very informative, lively and enthusiastic about her job.

After the 15min safari..we were told by the driver that the reason why everything is soo slow today is because out of 10 drivers only 2 showedup for work?? which is unbelievable i believe Hr should look into this matter as it does not make sense as it is known that a day like this will have many customers therefore it should be fully staffed.

On a positive note..the new Tulawaka ride was amazing..all the staff working there are simply amazing..they are informative..lively and they are fit to work with clients..these are the type of people that we as first time clients should see at the reception because the reception is dead..the staff looks very tired and exhausted and we only arrived at 11am so it was very early to have dead looking staff.
The team at tulawaka is great..i forgot their names..but the 2 big guys assisting and explaining how it works are great nd very friendly as well the two guys operating the toboggan are great.

I must say..its great that more physical activities have been added to the park as it is more fun for adults as well at a lower price as before all activities were mainly for kids..great thanks to the casela team for this.

In overall the park is great but i suggest u buy ur beverage outside as its not reasonable to pay RS50 for a 500ml bottle of water and RS80 for a small Macdonald small sized chips.

Big thanks to Joanne on the safari trip..the guys at the Tulawaka ride and the guys on the toboggan.
Change needs to be done at the front desk and more information needs to be provided by the frontlines.

Thank Tracy C

This zoo, being on a small island, is beautiful! We were welcomed by friendly staff. There were clean toilets near every area. The cages were clean, the animals looked healthy and happy. My little one enjoyed the petting zoo. The kids had a blast on the new ride (Tula Waka-Gold Coaster)and I was sooo happy that it was included in the ticket price! The older girls also enjoyed the safari ride and feeding the giraffes! The restaurant served us good food and our waitress was very friendly and efficient. The view from the restaurant is stunning! We ended up staying at Casela for 7 hours!!! It is worth the experience

Overall, it was a good day out, however, when we got to the Safari at the end (it was around 4 pm when we got to the giraffes and we were told that the next safari tour would leave in about 5 minutes so we rushed to see the giraffes) the rain started to come down on us (probably we waited 15 minutes rather than 5 as previously stated and that time it started raining...) so it flushed our safari tour away. Although we went out to "safari" but we were pretty sure that the tour didn't even cover half of the safari. It was a big disappointment to end the day like this. The safari tour is overrated in my opinion.

Another tip: you cannot go to see the giraffes on foot (as you could go and see the rest of the zoo) as you need to take a zoo bus in order to get there because just before the giraffes (and the safari) there is a flow going through the road so it would be impossible to go through. Furthermore, as we learnt you are not allowed to walk on those roads to the giraffes which wasn't signposted clearly.

Definitely a full day trip.
