Great hotel in a lovely location.

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Aug 16, 2011
Although a little more expensive that we would liked to have paid for 3 nights, this hotel was great. Very modern, comfortable and clean. We had a balcony room to the front of the builiding which was nice at time as it was still very warm and we could sit out and listen to the music from downstairs in the restaurant and we also were lucky to watch the fireworks on the night before the bank holiday.

The breakfast was lovely, continental as usual but very good quality produce compared to what is on offer in other italian hotels. The hotel staff were very friendly and although their english was limited and our italian even more sore, they made a huge effort to accomodate us at every opportunity. Wifi was available for guests but a thing to note is that it only worked in the foyer of the hotel. If you wanted to watch tv, none was available unless you were prepared to pay for sky. This did not affect us as we didnt want to watch tv.

All in all, i loved this hotel and would reccomend it.

Elaia is a nice family 3+ stars hotel in the Sperlonga valley. Location is tricky - Google maps give the wrong address, so make sure to find out how to get there. The advertised "200 m from the beach" is actually 500m+. The room was nice and clean, well conditioned. Good Italian breakfast, great espresso coffee. Free Wi-Fi. The staff was a bit lazy, however the room was cleaned daily. Just a couple of unpleasant things: we found the same dirty towel presented as new in our bath and the cleaning girl left some remains of hairband on our clothes.
I would recommend it as a good family option

The price is very reasonable and what it get is much nicer than simply a 'value' hotel. Everything looks new or recently renovated, including the building itself and the bathroom in the room. Room is small, but aren't you going to be at the beach anyway? It's less than a 5 minute walk from the beach (probably 2-3). There are two beaches in Sperlonga; it's near the quieter one. It's in a residential zone. On saturday, there was an outdoor market out front, with beautiful local produce. The room had a nice balcony with chairs and although it wasn't a beach view, you could see the historic town center on the mountain which was still beautiful. Staff was nice and helpful; we left our bags for a few hours after check out; when I approached the building, front desk saw me and met me with my bag ( a nice touch). Breakfast is Italian style.

To find a place like Sperlonga so close to Rome was a pleasant surprise, small unspoilt village with a nice beach.
I wanted somewhere to chill out before we went to stay in Rome, it was ideal.
The hotel is very modern and beautifully fitted out, every bedroom has it's own colourful picture painted by Francesco Pezzuco.

Hotel is new (4 years ) approx and is well maintained. Staff and owner very friendly and went out of their way to help us with information on the locality. Hotel is a 5 minute walk from the sea which we didnt even notice. A great place - we would come back.
