we were there for a family wedding and had no idea what to expect. between the guests most of the accommodation was booked out and we had a two bedroom villa. very well appointed with full kitchen, both bedrooms had en suite bathrooms and we had good wifi and sky tv. some of the rellies had bigger and smaller accommodation. one was a four bedroom modern house. the accommodation is individually owned but managed by the lodge so every chalet or villa is different.

we had 2 nights there with breakfasts and dinners - including the wedding reception. the staff are fabulous and nothing is too much trouble . the food was really lovely and of a high quality and standard. a very rustic feel to the whole lodge but warm and inviting.

awesome place for a wedding - excellent choice in all weathers. there is a seperate function room which opens to the outside and it is very lovely.

Room Tip: enquire as the villas are seperate houses - all different. the chalets are small and adjoining.

We stayed in villa 17 which was tucked away from the main buildings and opened to grassland towards the river. Villa is self contained has three well sized rooms which were all clean and maintained. We experienced one meal in the restaurant and expectations were met, food was of a high quality and service friendly and professional. We would definitely stay again on our next visit.

I had the pleasure of staying by myself at Tongariro Lodge this month in one of the well appointed chalets. Very comfortable beds, great air conditioning units, and extremely quiet enabling a sound nights sleep. Very tranquil location. Thoroughly recommended for a stop over with a difference.

We stayed here for one night en route from Rotorua to Wellington. On that basis it was well located but the chalet we were put in was tired and dated. It was clean but we were looking forward to our "secluded terrace" only to find we were sharing it with our immediate neighbour in an adjoining chalet (with locked interconnecting door). The walls are wood and every sound from next door could be heard. The WiFi was poor and kept dropping out. However we did have a delicious evening meal there. A cooked breakfast was included in our package but wasn't great, taking ages to prepare and being served warm rather than hot. Altogether not disaster but we would not go back.
