“Great hotel!”
Reviewed 20 November 2010

This was a great hotel -- and the dinner (particularly the vegetarian set menu) was divine! The owner and his wife were lovely, friendly and very helpful.

This isn't expensive, so don't expect too much, but this was my favourite hotel in the Dordogne region. Vegetarians have to stay here - they really made an effort to provide interesting vegtarian options, which is really hard to find in this region. The staff were SO friendly and helpfu, and the location is lovely. It is a bit out of la Roque Gageac, but perfectly postioned for riding or walking between Domme and La Roque Gageac, and very calm away from the tourist rush of la Roque. On a bike, it is a lovely ride in. Overall, I loved this place. I think it is outstanding value for the region.

Two years later, the same good value, helpful hosts, decent food, great position. Still needs a makeover! The only thing different here was that the restaurant was closed the first night of my stay and I don't think I can see that on the website, and certainly the booking service I used didn't tell me. On the second night i ate alone in a secondary dining room.

Now the point here is that if your booking covers a Monday or Tuesday out of season, as mine did, you might want to consider that outside the tourist season the local alternatives are few and far between. Certainly in early March, the vast majority of hotels and restaurants in this area are closed.

Pleasant hotel, nice grounds and good view up to Domme. Good location for exploring Dordogne region, but a little isolated. Much easier to find than I expected.
Good hotel for the price but not exceptional
Staff friendly and rooms comfortable, though a refurb wouldn't hurt.
Large car park with easy access to main road towards Sarlat, Domme or La Roque Gageac
Food a little pricey compared to restaurants in Domme or Cenac - so I didn't try it
Try the restaurant (just 1km away) across the river in Cenac just by the turning to Domme. I had an excellent meal there.

Came upon this hotel by chance in the Logis de France book. Found it great value - went for half board option and the food was excellent. The service seemed much better than I would have expected from a hotel in this price range and the staff were all very friendly - particularly the husband and wife who own it. Location is convenient for all the main sights in this region.

My husband & myself stayed at this hotel for 3 weeks in July'07. It is a little Jewel in a perfect situation. Near Sarlat, Domme, centre La Roque Gageac, Beynac, Castelnaud, the 5 Chateau's, river, grottos etc. Most within walking/cycling distance. Patrick & Raphaela took over the hotel about 2years ago and have slowly being doing it up. The rooms are all ensuite and are a bit old fashioned, but have been freshly decorated and are going to be upgraded soon. It has Air Con., swimming pool, tennis court and extensive beautiful landscaped gardens. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. They have a fantastic chef. Every night we had the Plat Du Jour and waited with delight to see what the chef produced. We dined in many other restaurants in the area but none came up to the standards of Le Perigord. At the moment it is only a 2* rating therefore it is very reasonable, but it will definately not stay at that rating very long.....We have booked another stay in October'07........Hope to see you there!!!!....Lesley & Alan Gough, Scotland UK

I first stayed at this hotel in south west France during a group walking holiday in Dordogne area.I so enjoyed the experience came back for a further week on my own!
The hosts, Patrick & Raffaella could not have been more caring bending over backwards to make my stay (as single older person) most enjoyable. They suggested places of interest that could be reached by bicycle/ foot and in some cases transported me to the places themselves.
The chef at the hotel is first class providing excellent meals from locally grown seasonal produce...never the same two days running!
The charm of the hotel is its older style, yet comfortable decore and professional yet welcoming and relaxed staff.
