Roberto was a great host and was very reactive in preparing our stay. He also has been very helpful during our stay either for running small erons in the apartment or to advice us on restaurants/visits in the neighbourhood. The swimming pool is fantastic with a wonderful view of the Trasimeno lake and clean. The setting is lovely and very quiet. The apartment is very nice and very well furnished in the typical countryside style. Recommended!!!

Cannot speak highly enough of Torale. If your looking for a remote, quiet location with amazing views and friendly staff you couldn't choose better.

The few times we did need a lift into town or to a restaurant the owners were more than happy to take us or order a taxi.

Our group of 4 spent 2 weeks at this location this fall and felt like it was our own little Umbrian paradise.
Because of previous bookings we needed to change apartments after the first week, and enjoyed spending time in each of the 4 different apartments, from studio to one bedroom, to two bedroom units.
Torale consists of an old hamlet, all by itself located in an olive grove, halfway up the hillside, with no neighbouring homes and with wonderful views of Lago Trasimeno below in the distance.
I think many locations would have a great view of the Umbrian countryside, but Torale also has the view of the lake in the distance , making it even more special.
Roberto bought this property and renovated it to its current standard a few years ago. The 16 or so apartments range in size from studios to 2 bedroom units. The building is beautiful old stone and brick inside and out with old wooden beams and lovely doors, windows and shutters in each unit. All units have modern bathrooms and kitchens and washing machines. Decor is rustic, old world Italy. As has been previously remarked, they are sparsely supplied, so you need to go to neighbouring towns for groceries and supplies. There are grocery stores in Passignano and Tuoro, but you will need a car here as nothing is within walking distance; however that is the charm of the spot. There will be nobody else nearby, other than the other guests and the small Sunday crowd at the church, which is also on the property.
The pool area is very lovely . It is a large, unheated pool with a washroom facility there and lots of loungers. As we were here recently this fall, note that the pool closes for the season October 1st, although Roberto consulted with us prior to closing it.
There are lots of gardens throughout the property as well. We especially enjoyed the lavender around the pool.
This is a wonderful spot for a group of friends or family to vacation together, to be able to enjoy each other's company in relative privacy.

Roberto and his daughter Martina were there each day to help us out with any advice and concerns.
Also special thanks to Ted and to Jack, our Canadian travel consultants who make Torale a home base in season, and who gave us so many suggestions about travel, shopping and eating around the area!.

Room tip: Most rooms seem similar, depending on which size you need for your group. Those rooms in the courtyard or near the office have the best wifi reception. There are east-facing and west-facing rooms, depending if you like morning or afternoon sun. Upstairs rooms have steep stone stairways to climb and may not have their own somewhat private outdoor space.

We were saved by Torale when our holiday in Italy started as a complete disaster. The house we had paid for beforehand, turned out to be the holiday from hell. We moved in to Torale, and had such a lovely time with Roberto, the cute cats and the breathtaking views. Just bliss. Our apartment was lovely, so clean and just what we needed.
Thank you very much indeed, Roberto. We highly recommend Torale. You will not be disappointed.

Room tip: Ask for the kind of room you want, when you book. They will do everything they can to help you.

Remarkable views of the lake. This is a great holiday location, though having a car is preferable.

The accommodation is good, if simple and traditional. Has what you need but be prepared to buy the essentials from one of the local supermarkets - litle is provided as a starter.

There is a local baker who visits 6 days a week with fresh bread etc. Wonderful.

Roberto is very friendly and helpful. We had aircon and light bulb problems and these were sorted promptly. The swimming pool is good and well maintained.

Stayed 2 weeks and went from the extremes of being full to only 2 appartments occupied for the entire week. So be prepared to meet other visitors and nationalities. (Though this would be a great place for groups to book a number of appartments.)

Umbria is a great place to visit - felt that we only scraped to surface of what is around.
