My wife and I recently stayed over for just one night and were very impressed with the standard of accommodation and breakfast. Friendly service greeted us upon arrival making sure we had a comfortable stay. Our ground floor lodge was nicely compact and clean providing everything we needed including tea/coffee making facilities. Would stay there again next time we are in the area.

We booked a triple room for a one night stay, having booked here as the price was reasonable for three people. For a start it was easy to find, and from the moment we stepped inside the staff we met were all very friendly and pleasant. Our room was clean and well equipped so no complaints here. We chose to dine in the restaurant, and were advised there might be a long wait for food as they were catering for a wedding party that evening. We were in no hurry so this wasn't a problem, but the staff kept offering apologies for the delays, which were minimal anyway. The food was very tasty and good value. A good continental breakfast was included in the room price, but a good value cooked breakfast was also available for an extra charge. Overall, our stay at The Lodge was much better than we expected, and would recommend.

Stayed here donkey's years ago when I thought the rooms were bigger for some reason. Clean but aged rooms with no views of the local scenery. Would have preferred cotton quilt covers. Food perhaps a little more expensive than other similar establishments. Drinks were almost prohibitively expensive. But pleasant staff outweighed these grumbles.

I am sorry to hear that during your stay you never got to experience the beautiful views of the National Trust countryside that surrounds us.
If you ever decide to stay with us again I recommend requesting either room 6 or room 17 as these are our 2 double rooms that overlook the natural scenery.
The staff are always happy to help, so if these rooms are ever available we will be happy to switch your booking if you haven't previously requested either of them.

Excellent base to stay, to tour Kent and East Sussex, staff friendly and good choice of food at reasonable prices, both for Breakfast and Evening meals. Rooms clean and tidy, with your own front door. Beds a bit firm and rooms are basic, but had a good nights sleep. Ideal if you are on business or touring.

Lovely to hear you had a great stay with us. We are lucky to be situated in an area that is on the Kent and Sussex border so a great place to explore the local areas.
We hope to see you again in the future.

We stayed for 2 days over August bank holiday (Sunday and Monday) having booked quite late. The staff are wonderful and couldn't do more for us. Every request was willingly met.
It's a lovely 10 minute walk through a field to Winchelsea which is quiet but a lovely village. Winchelsea Beach is a 5 minute drive and whilst shingle is huge and not over populated. We tried Camber initially but boiling hot day + 11am meant it was too busy with a 3 mile tailback.
We also went into Rye which is lovely, but warning - do not go there thinking you can rely on a taxi home. We managed to get what we were told was the only and final taxi of the night at 9:20.
Overall, nice clean hotel, well priced, good location for all that's around it and excellent staff.

Had a very pleasant 2 night break here from 31st August. The staff welcomed us with Happy Anniversary when we booked in which was a nice touch. We found all the staff very pleasant. I spoke to Robin twice on the phone and he was very friendly, our waitress at the evening meal was helpful and cheerful especially as she was on her own waiting and doing the bar.
Our room was clean and comfortable, the shower was a little small but the water was hot and for the cost of the room we had no complaints. There was plenty of tea and coffee both nights and some tasty biscuits which were unexpected.
We would definitely stay again. The views are wonderful.

Thank you for your kind review.I am glad you enjoyed your anniversary stay with us and that the staff were attentive at all times.
We are lucky to be situated with these beautiful views surrounding us.
If you ever stay with us again, I recommend booking room 6 as it is a rear facing room with stunning views overlooking the fields.

This was a last minute decision on our part to get away for a couple of days for our wedding anniversary and, I admit, we were slightly put off by one or two of the more negative reviews. We really needn't have worried. After a tortuous drive, due to the satnav in the courtesy car not having been set up properly, The Lodge was a very welcoming, safe haven indeed. All the staff are very friendly and helpful, it has a well-stocked bar and good food is available from the restaurant. We'd earlier had a vaguely formulated idea to go and eat in Winchelsea or Rye but were enticed by the choices on the 'Specials' menu for the day. There is an a la carte menu as well and, by our experience, the food was well-cooked and appetising. Our room was clean and airy, with a comfortable bed and an excellent shower. On the following morning, there was a continental breakfast provided free and, or, a cooked breakfast, from a wide range of options. My wife said it was the best Full English Breakfast she'd had in a very long time. We stayed for two nights and found it a very enjoyable experience (we ate in on the second night as well for the same reason), and is a far better venue than many hotels which give themselves a much higher profile. Located in the wonderful East Sussex countryside, there's very little not to like about The Lodge so really can't decide whether it's us that are fairly low maintenance or it's other people who make a career of finding fault with everything. Thankyou for making our stay so enjoyable; very happy to return.

Room Tip: The A259 runs past the hotel and there is a good deal of traffic, so probably best to try and get a...
