Retired, I first reviewed this excellent hotel some 18 months ago and liked it so much that I have returned on golfing trips on 6 further occasions since then. The most recent with 3 fellow golfers in early March coincided with the Hotel fully booked yet it continued to deliver the standards that make it in my view a most worthy 4 star Hotel and prompted this further review.
All our stays have been on an All Inclusive basis mainly due to the continued high standard of food, wines and service delivered in the Restaurant. The Hotel reception is well staffed with either Nayra or Daniel in charge of their team and in conjunction with a separate customer relations desk, adjacent to reception and staffed by Nyncke they efficiently handle both their reception duties and those other problems that do and will occur in busy hotels.
From the cleanliness of the public areas to the maintenance operators who promptly fixed our room plumbing problem this Hotel operates to its high standard due no doubt to the senior management - the men in blue suits - who are to be seen continually in all the public areas. I congratulate the " blue suits " and of course their biggest asset, all the staff who make the Carlota worthy of so many visits.

Hotel, staff, rooms, fine situated in a pleasant area, with direct access to lovely beach. We has a group of four adults disapointed with the food and dining room,eg tables not cleared after use, clients often located cutlery and crockery and set the table, poor quality of food, only lukewarm, and often the dishes were not topped up quickly enough when empty. Our main complaint would be the poor quality of the tablecloths, resulting in dark clothing being covered in white fluff!! A observant and helpful waitress did explain we could get a roller on leaving the dining room,a better solution would be better tablecloths. Hand gel not available, not good when you see some people cutting bread after removing protective napkin. Toilets near arrecife bar often flooded, resulting in wading through not very pleasant water!! We did have a lovely holiday and enjoyed the sunshine and facilities around the pool,it wouldnt take a lot to improve the standards of the hotel,we found reception staff and dining room staff helpfull The barcelo hotel further along the coast warrants the four stars given but currently without some changes the elba is three stars

Room Tip: higher levels sea views are better

Only 15 minutes from the airport - which is great. The airport transfer and collection of bags was very efficient. We paid extra for a private shuttle - it's worth the £ 60.00 as you are the only passengers being delivered to the Carlota and the same when being collected for the airport return trip. Upon arrival the reception is large, clean with a great view of the pool area through a large glass atrium. Fab ! Rooms were ready. We were ground floor and they are clean, resonably spacious - sleeps 2 adults and 1 child adequately, with a balcony overlooking the pool, which is really nice. Hire a safe - it's worth it for around 15 euros for the week; they are electronic and bulit into the wardrobe. The room and bathroom could do with a slight upgrade now. I guess the hotel is around 5 years past the refit and it shows a little here and there - but only small, pedantic things like a cracked tile here or there, a tap that drips, overall though it was a good. Heated pool is great. Kids are with a small pool and swings and slides is fine. Big pool - too cold ! Lots of sunbeds so you'll always find space. You have to leave a deposit on the towels which is a little inconsiderate but that's that. Lots of sun and you can watch the jet's final approach before landing over the hotel - which sounds noisy but it's really not. The pool area does get a little noisy once a day around 11ish as water aerobics starts and lots of people join in - it is hilarious with a really nice bald headed guy running things - it's soon over though so my advice is to get a bed by the cold pool as you are far enough away from things. Music is a little loud at times. The whole hotel is cast concrete - floors, walls, etc and hard tiled which means echoes so at night it can be a little noisy but it's okay. Footsteps in heels mostly. We stayed during the French national hols so lots of French kids running around which was lovely. The French are very polite and know their food so the hotel really gets it right. At night the French use the balconys after the bars shut which can be loud if they are next door - which they were to us - but after their pastiche and arguments about Sarkozy they kiss goodnight and hit le sack !
Hotel grounds and gardens are nice, a little worn and tired in places. Beach is just outside the rear gate which is soft sand and always lots of room. FOOD is superb ! Waiter service always good and drinks are pretty cheap. We were half board which was the right thing as All Inclusive is just cheap food and beer. You simply have to try the restaurant on the stone pier by the beach. The Canarian potatoes, and the garlic prawns ARE TO DIE FOR. Incredible if a little expensive. Lovely outlook onto the sea and the manmade breakwater harbour. NOT KIDDING YOU HAVE TO EAT THESE DISHES 10/10 ! Carlota town is about 15 mins walk past the Sheraton along a dusty path and another big beach. Very quiet little town, with a couple of bars and shops. Not rowdy at all. There is no nightlife really at all around the Carlota apart from the hotel bars which are very quiet. You can try the Elba Sara next door - which looks a little more like a 3 star than a 4 star, or the Sheraton which looks like a reasonable 5 star. There's very little else at this part of the coast but these 3 hotels. To sum it all up, for a week of sun, you'll struggle to beat the Carlota overall for your holiday in Fuerteventura, in regards to value for money, standard of food and service, and complete user-friendliness. We will go back here later this year. Hope this helps....

Room Tip: Ground floor worked for us.

We spent a week at this hotel from 20th Feb and booked through Low Cost Holidays.
On arrival there was a short wait for the room to be ready but we were given AI wristbands so we could have lunch and drinks, and shown where to leave cases. Check in was efficient and staff were very friendly and welcoming, and we were greeted with a drink on entry to the hotel.
We confirmed our email requests and these were met. Daniel and his colleagues are a credit to the hotel and told us to email them with any requests for future visits.
Our room overlooked the shopping centre but got lovely late sunshine. The room was clean and spacious with ample storage space and was kept clean throughout our stay with regular bedlinen and towel changes by the housekeeping staff.
On our first evening in the restaurant there was a Canarian theme night with live musicians serenading the diners and the restaurant staff dressed in local costumes.
During our stay there were several other theme nights such as chinese.
Again all the staff were friendly and helpful with special mention to Antonio, Roberto and Holly. All the staff worked extremely hard but still managed to remain cheerful and cleared tables as quickly as they could.
We were very impressed with the range of food on offer which we found was well cooked and tasty. We particularly enjoyed the fresh fruit smoothies at breakfast and the food cooked to order on the griddles. For lunch and dinner other highlights were the fresh pasta station and on two evenings the 'boat' full of fresh cooked prawns.
We enjoyed the varied sweet selection with accompanying sauces and the tubs of ice cream.
The all inclusive drinks selection throughout the hotel was better than some hotels we have stayed in especially the local version of Baileys and the house red wine served with dinner.
Thanks to Julio, Francisco and Amelia at the lobby and pool bars for keeping us topped up with drinks.
For a 10 euro returnable deposit fresh beach towels can be obtained and changed on a daily basis.
It was good to find a heated pool that was heated to some extent and the aquafit sessions led by Atilio were great fun and not to be missed.
Unfortunately the heated jacuzzi, despite the signs saying 'adults only' was taken over and became a glorified childrens pool so we were unable to use it.
One thing that could be improved was toning down the music because in the area of the Aricife pool bar there was the Hotel music/radio in strong competition to the music system of the animation team - not ideal if you wanted some peace and quiet. Also in around the Aricife bar a number of the childrens acvtivities were held here which was not conducive to having a quiet snack or meal.
We picked this time to avoid the UK childrens holidays but found a lot of french children and they could be very noisy at times.
An adults only area would be a bonus for those like us who wished to relax quietly and not be pestered to take part in activities.
There is a free courtesy bus that calls at this hotel and calls at the golf and several other hotels in resort several times a day enabling you to visit Caleta. Alternatively it is only a short walk along the main road or beach.
For animal lovers, a must is to purchase some nuts or crisps and feed the wild chipmunks along the beach by the harbour or at the far end of the resort by the rocky bay. They will feed out of your hand and even give you a nudge if you don't realise they are there waiting to be fed!!!
Being all inclusive we did not eat out but called at the bar - El Capitan for a drink and were impressed by the menu available there.
All in all this hotel was good value for a winter break and we would consider returning again.

Room Tip: Although pool/sea view rooms are nice you don't get the afternoon sun.

I first stayed at the Elba Carlota in march 2009 with a friend...enjoyed it so much i re-booked as soon as i got home for me and my mum!

ROOMS- both rooms i stayed in were pretty much the same big beds, lovely big wardrobe and a modern bathroom. Rooms on the outside/sides of the hotel dont get a great view either a shopping mall or the burnt orange hotel next door but not a major issue :)

FOOD- nice selection of cheeses and meats for starters and always something nice and hot for the main... there is always a chef around to cook you fresh pasta with many sauces. I fell in LOVE with the chocolate mousse :)

DRINKS- Out of the drinks we tried- beer, Malibu, brandy, vodka and all soft drinks inc cocktails i would say there are all good! Although all local spirts you really could not tell a difference!

STAFF- The reception staff are all young so i think you have to bear this in mind when approaching them. I never had a problem with them but what i didnt like was how when my mum lost our room key we just had to ask for room *** and was given a key- no proof of id extra, made me a little weary but we had the safe box so that put my mind at rest. Bar staff are fantastic give all the usual banter everyday and some i must say were very handsome :)

LOCATION- nice shopping area next door with a lovely little jewelry shop that gift wraps presents for home beautifully. 15 mins away from airport and close to the local town- we enjoyed O'conners bar for a fab sunday dinner and a nice pint! Just outside of the back gates to the hotel there is a lovely beach with a bar going out to sea- not part of the hotel but a lovely drink on an evening!

THOMSON- I feel i should mention this tour operator because they were amazing from booking to getting us home. The first time i stayed here the volcano in Iceland caused major disruption for everyone on holiday at the time... we had to stay an extra 3days before a plane was sent (did not complain!!) although we were moved from this hotel we were very well looked after and kept upto date at all times.

I would not have gone back if it wasnt somewhere that gave me all i need for a holiday- weather, food, short distance from airport & great staff. I highley reccomend this hotel!!

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the pools as rooms on the sides dont have a great view!

The hotel has some excellent points - location, lovely gardens and pools and well appointed Junior suites (4th floor, facing the sea and most of the days sun with an excellent bathroom layout - jacuzzi bath , completely seperate walk in shower, double hand basin). HOWEVER, NOT SO GOOD AT FULFILLING QUESTS PRE-ARRIVAL REQUESTS! Early check in and late check out not available. We had joined their Fidelity card club prior to going and had printed out our online confirmation but because the card hadn't arrived they wouldn't honour it. We did not experience the restaurant problems that others had reported, such as cold food and no tables. Staff were very quick to re-lay tables and we always managed to get seated even at very busy times. A smile and a bit of spanish please and thank yous elicited reasonably speedy drinks.Foos was excellent. The hotel was full for our 3 days and it appears the French have moved from Egypt to Fuerteventura and out number the Germans and do everything in huge groups. However, no problems with sunbeds and those near the huge childrens pool are a smoke free zone!! Will probably return but only if an upgrade to a Junior suite can be secured! Worth the extra for the bathroom alone.

Room Tip: 4th floor end facing the sea is good -Junior suites are excellent.
