Ashfield house has just been purchased by new owners. They were gracious and bend over backwards to make us feel welcome. The garden cottage was nicely furnished and the grounds alone were worth the trip. Temuka is a simple town which we selected to shorten our trip between Dunedin and Arthur's pass. This would be a wonderful venue for a wedding or group meeting. Enjoyed our stay.

Warm greeting from Lorraine and Michael the new owners of this beautiful establishment. We got the stand alone cottage arriving in at 5.30pm finding it by chance. Clean, beautifully appointed, private, quiet and breathtaking grounds. Breakfast was delightful and plentiful in our private cottage. An absolute must stay for anyone who appreciates real comfort and beauty that is affordable. Highly recommend.

Eight members of my family and I spent spent the nights of 9 & 10 November 2012 at Ashfield B&B. The buliding and grounds are beautiful but the hosts were horrendous. The host was very threatening and intimidating towards me , the hostess (his wife) was unfiendly and rude. They spent every evening ensconsed at their outdoor pub and we were repeatedly locked out of the front entrance and had to find our way, in the rain, to the back entrance of the B&B.
It would be worth a visit to view the premises and gardens but sadly not under the present management unless you like to be bullied and then have to pay for the pleasure!!

Talk about finding a B&B gem! Ashfield House is an amazing experience. The hospitality of hosts Mike and Bev is warm and inviting and had us wishing we were able to stay for longer. The home is immaculate and the breakfasts are to die for. Don't miss out on Mike's bacon and eggs or Bev's homemade jams with berries and fruit straight off the orchard. We'll definitely be back!

On the SH-1 road between Timaru and Christchurch in South Island there are many places to stay, but we wanted something different. This beautiful Victorian manor house lies just off the main road on parklike grounds with a fishing stream, ducks, and gorgeous gardens. Despite it's small size, they even do weddings in the gardens. The ensuite rooms couldn't be nicer and it was a great bargain which included choice of an excellent continental or cooked breakfast, Our friendly hosts are anxious to tell you about the area's attractions. We only stayed one night but I wish it could have been more. It was like a peaceful oasis in our hard-driven trip.
