“Family stay may 2012”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 May 2012

Arrived way early in the pooring rain and was so glad to find the room was ready for us. Reception was warm and cleaning staff were bubbly and friendly. Reception staff were helpful when we were having trouble trying to get to seaworld early in the morning. Booked through hotelclub.com and found changing the dates of our holiday very, very easy when our son broke his arm.

Room was on the 16th floor with an awesome view of the ocean and Broadbeach skyline. But surprisingly there was quite a bit of noise from street level. Beautifully decorated room and a very practical space with a very handy laundry. Kitchen had most utensils but no baking tray and after staying for a week was a little perplexed by the one tiny satchet of dishwashing liquid that all these places tend to supply. Having said that, I didn't ask for more either. Clean, and in a great location. Good value for money although again was a little annoyed at being asked to pay a nominal amount for a few local calls that we made. After spending a significate amount over $1000 and had not asked anything of the staff, no housekeeping, no anything. I thought it would have been good business to wave it.
But we would recommend Beach Haven, the room was an absolute joy and the view we stared out endlessly.

We have stayed at Beach Haven previously and love the location and the facilities with three swimming pools and a tennis court as well as BBQs. Apartment was a good size however it needed work as it was a little 'tired' and had a few maintenance issues. It was a busy period and wonder if this was one of the last apartments to be rented out for the week. Friendly and very helpful staff help make it a top spot for a family holiday at a good price. All apartments have ocean views.

We recently stayed 5 nights at Beach Haven in a lovely apartment 5D. It was very clean and fresh. Lounge/dining area had beautiful leather sofas, dining chairs and marble like dining table. Nice decor. Kitchen was really well-equipped with lots of utensils and gadgets. Appliances were not too dated. The welcome pack provided was a pleasant surprise (lots of goodies). We had a 2-bed apartment and it was spacious. The views were fantastic (though not very high up - less wind) views to the North, South and towards the beach. Incredible views of Broadbeach precinct at night!! We found the staff very friendly and accommodating. Indoor pool/spa/sauna with 2 outdoor pools/spas, 2 tennis courts, BBQ areas. We'll be back for sure!

Room Tip: The higher up you go the more noise from the weather. We prefer around level 5 or so. You can requ...

The Beach Haven is in a very good location. It is a couple minutes walk to the beach and a few minutes walk to the Broadbeach cafes and restaurants. The complex has 2 tennis courts, 2 outside pools and a heated pool inside and a BBQ area near one of the pools.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment on the north-eastern corner. We paid $250 per night but it was in summer and we only booked at the last minute. So as far as value goes, I would say it was OK.

There were very good views from the north-eastern corner. Best views are on the eastern side but northerly views are good also (& southerly views OK as well). The living area in the apartment was spacious and comfortable. However, the rooms were a little dated. The kitchen was useful and the balcony facing the beach was frequently used also.

We had one major drama, however. As we were putting our 6 year old son to bed at about 8 pm, he decided he would slam his bedroom door. When I tried to open the door to let my 4 year old daughter in, the door handle didn't work. My wife and I and our young son were stuck in the bedroom with an increasingly agitated 4 year old girl stuck in the hallway.

No balconies outside the bedrooms, our mobile phones in the living room, no phone in the bedroom and it was 8 pm so Reception had left. One option was to open a window and get someone's attention on the street about 15 floors down. But it was getting dark and there weren't many people around and what would they do anyway? It might take an hour or two before someone might come and my daughter was getting pretty scared already. So I had no choice but to smash the door down. It was a huge relief when daughter and family were re-acquainted. I had spent 20 minutes trying to get the door to work before I smashed it down so my daughter was getting pretty toey by then.

After we got out, I checked the bedroom door and all the other doors in the apartment. The problem was that the bit that retracts when you turn the door handle was sticking; not just with the 2nd bedroom door but also with 2 other internal doors.

The next morning when I told Reception, she didn't care at all about our difficulty the previous night. I think she thought that I was going to ask for a complete refund. I wasn't but I expected that the Hotel would offer me a small refund or at least write to me but there was nothing at all. Someone saved a few pennies at my expense by buying sub-standard fittings. I hope the door handle mechanisms have been changed because if they haven't, this will happen to someone else soon. I wonder if the other apartments have the same door handle mechanisms?

The attitude of the woman at Reception had been frosty and unfriendly towards many guests during our stay. Obviously, it didn't improve when I told her I had to smash the door down.

The Beach Haven is in a very good location and it has a few positive points but after our experience, I don't think we will be staying there next time we are on the Gold Coast.

My friend and I stayed in apartment 16C, which has views to the North and East (overlooking the beach).
This was in July 2010. The apartment was spacious but had tired looking furniture. The fridge and stove top burners could do with replacing. As you can see in my photos, the fridge had rust spots and the burners looked rusty and worn out. The beside table in one room was chipped and marked.

However, despite this, the fridge did do its job properly and kept our food cold, and the burners worked and so we were able to cook food easily.

Beach Haven is just minutes walk from the beach and the shops, including a supermarket, cafes, restaurants and a post office. Also just minutes walk down the road are bus stops where you can catch a bus to Surfers Paradise or any of the theme parks on the Gold Coast.
The huge Pacific Fair shopping centre is about a 10 or 15 minute walk away but you can also catch a bus there.
The nearest little shopping centre near Beach Haven has the monorail station where you can catch the monorail to Jupiter's Casino, which is also a walkable distance.

Beach Haven has several swimming pools. We stayed in winter so did not use the outdoor pools, but we did use the indoor heated pool and spar and loved them! However, I would recommend that any guest should wear rubber footwear such as flip flops/thongs in the indoor pool area as the floor seemed to always be soaking wet and slippery.

We had a generous sized balcony on which to sit and enjoy the view. It was spectacular at any time of the day or night.

The three elevators were right on the other side of our lounge room wall and we barely heard them, aside from a low whispering, wooshing sound which did not bother us at all.

Sleep quality was very good, comfortable beds and pillows, adequate curtians to block out the city lights and barely any street noise.

The apartment had two bedrooms and two bathrooms, allowing us to have one each. The bathoom floors are tiled with smooth, sleek tiles which could become hazardous when wet. A bathmat is provided and I made sure to move carefully within the large and roomy shower stall. The water pressure was a bit on and off, with a consistenly hot (but not too hot) shower difficult to achieve. My friend however said she had no problems at all in her shower, the one belonging to the main bedroom.

The excellent central location of Beach Haven, its lovely swimming pools and great views meant that we had a great stay and were able to tolerate the old stovetop burners and fridge and tired looking furniture.

I would return to this place again.

Room Tip: Ask for an aparment facing North, like our C apartment. Perhaps the view South is nice too, but look...

Location and view of beach are fantastic. Apartments are well sized but very tired in appearance. Mind you considering the distance to the beach, makes sense to have basic furniture etc. Bathrooms clean, but kitchen and blackout blinds could do with refreshing! Great coffee and restaurants literally doors away! Indoor and outdoor pools make the place weather proof! Perfect for families. Just don't expect anymore than 3 star.
