“A perfect oasis”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 May 2012

We have just returned from a week staying in the Santellini. You enter through a small archway into a beautiful oasis. It is very peaceful, yet only a few steps from the beach, shops and restaurant/ tavernas. The bus stop, for trips into Thira, is literally just round the corner. Everyone mentions the cleanliness in the hotel and they are absolutely right. They even wipe the sunbeds down underneath and wipe down the plant pots. The place is spotless!!!
The staff are all very friendly and helpful. We found we needed extra pillows and these were supplied immediately. I took my own travel hairdryer, but there was no need, the one in the room was excellent. The breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice. It was nice to see a variety of teas available. A beautiful place and I would not hesitate to recommend it.

We have just come back from a 2 week honeymoon at the Santellini and we are already looking to go back for our anniversary. It is an oasis of peace from the main promenade. You can be amid the life of the village within 1 minutes. The staff are fantastic and I have never been to such a clean hotel. We watched in amazement as they cleaned all the plant pots and leaves on the larger plants one morning! Rooms were cleaned daily with fresh linen and towels every other day. You had a choice every morning for breakfast, eggs, toast, cake, cheese, ham, home made jams, honey, yoghurt and this list continues. I can not rave about the hotel enough!! It was truly fantastic and made our honeymoon more memorable.

The hotel is excellent in every way. The welcome was exceptionally friendly and whenever we had a question or needed some advice staff went out of their way to help. We (mother and grown up daughter) shared a twin room which was very clean and comfortable. There was a fridge in the room where we stored our water bottles. The shower was quite small but it didn't disturb us. The pool area was very clean and there was plenty of space and you always got a sun bed. The location is ideal- the bus stop is just around the corner, the beach just 50m away and supermarkets are plenty in the area. You are in the middle of the resort and near tavernas, but the hotel is an oasis of peace (you don't hear noise when you are at the pool or in your room). Breakfast: continental buffet- fresh Greek bread and rolls (white and brown), toast, selection of fresh cheese and meat, home- made jam (really nice), portions of packed chesse, jam and nutella, Greek yoghurt with honey (you have to try this!!!), eggs, selection of cake for your sweet tooth, olives, feta, tomatoes and cucumber, fruit basket, juice and a great selection of all sorts of tea for those who love tea. There were probably other items I forgot, but the breakfast is varied and there is plenty! You can have your breakfast inside or outside beside the pool. Everything in the hotel is very charming- there are a lot of small touches which makes this hotel so special: a beautiful plant here, a picture there, flowers... the hotel has been designed in a Greek style in blue/white. We both agree that this is the cleanest and nicest hotel we have ever stayed in and although only rated 3 stars, it deserves 5 stars for service, friendliness, style and cleanness. If you need a quiet oasis in the middle of a lively resort then this hotel is for you. We will definitely be back and I can recommend this hotel without any hesitation. The picture in the Thomson catalogue doesn't do this hotel justice- check the Santellini website!

Room Tip: I requested a quiet room with pool view via Thomson and we could not hear any street noise. Rooms wi...

We stayed at this hotel at the end of Aug 2011 - It is in the ideal location just outside the hotel there are local shops, pubs and restaurants. The beach is a couple of minutes walk to, where the sunbeds and parasols are very cheap to rent. The staff are very friendly and if you need anything will be there in a minute. This is the 2nd time my parents have been back and no doubt they will be back again.

Room Tip: If there are 3 adults staying in your group - I would say have 2 rooms we were a little squashed in...

Just retuned back from the Santellini Hotel where we stayed for one week to attend our daughters wedding. The hotel is in the perfect location. The whole hotel is spotlessly clean and the staff are extremely helpful and welcoming. The pool area was just the right size for the hotel, very clean and relaxing atmosphere. We never had trouble getting a sunbed. The breakfast was lovely and plenty of choice. We will definately be returning.

We stayed in the Santellini hotel for a week in August 2011. We chose this hotel as we had already read other reviews on Tripadvisor about how clean this hotel is and the location. We were not disappointed at all.

The hotel facilities are cleaned everyday. The rooms, pool, breakfast area. We had a pool view room on the ground floor. Breakfast is served from 8 until 10 and had a choice of cereal -(chocolate flakes, cornflakes, oates) or ham and cheese, yoghurt and honey, toast and marmalade, hard boiled eggs, tea, coffee, some fruit and juices. The hotel also has a pool bar.

Air conditioning was included for us under Thomson, however initially we asked to adjust the air con as it was a bit warm in the room. The manager quickly cleaned the filters for all rooms and this made our room much cooler. In-room safes are 1.50 Euros per day. We had a shower in our room, but you can book a room with a bath and shower if you wish. Rooms are basic but very clean. The beds are hard, but I preferred it. Also there is only one pillow each, but ask at reception for more pillows and they will quickly provide these for you.

The pool has a shallow end and gradual deep end. Unlike some other hotels where you have issues with sun loungers being available round the pool, we did not have any problems. There was always a number of free loungers during the day. The pool area was peaceful and not noisy from Kamari town. The airport however is only about 5 minutes away so you do find the occasional plane flying nearby.

The location is amazing, so close to all the main restaurants and bars but far enough so you do not hear any noise. Only about 50 meters to the beach and shops are on the doorstep. There are two supermarkets around the corner. I cannot fault this hotel so we will definitely be returning!

In Kamari itself, we loved the Loveboat bar which is a short walk from the hotel on the beach. The Levante also does lovely food at lunch and views of the beach so would recommend this. Turn left at the end of the hotel road at the beach for these Loveboat and Levante. For meals in the evening, definitely head to Scaramagas and try the mousaka. Turn right at the end of the hotel road at the beach.

We went with all the family as it was my cousin's wedding and everyone had an amazing time in Santorini. As it was bank holiday weekend, they had fireworks on the volcano and Fira which we watched on the Sunset cruise boat. Sunsets are the best from Oia or on the boat. Also definitely recommend a visit to Santo Wines as there are stunning views of the sunset (and also my cousin had her wedding there!)

Would recommend the Santellini hotel for couples as well as families.

Room Tip: Ask for a pool view room for easy access to the pool

I wondered before I went why everyone on trip advisor went on about the cleanliness, I thought there must be more to say about this place. But then I saw it, so fresh and clean it looks as if it is decorated every night while you are asleep !
But there is more..... The owners and staff are very friendly and so helpfull, the breakfast is superb and so obviously enjoyed by all, (you can tell by the return trips to the buffet tables).Yes my bed was a bit on the firm side but I only had to mention it and a lovely soft 'topper' mattress was put on right away, 1st thing the next morning the staff member who I had spoken to asked if I slept well and few minutes later the owner, Yianiss, came to check too. We went on recommendation and it was all we had hoped for and more.

Room Tip: Would suggest a pool facing room, others face onto a fairly quiet street, you may want to watch the...
