Beautifully situated and well-preserved, Kamenets-Podolsky fortress (it's not a castle, by the way) is definitely worth seeing. But if you come there after hours and find the door closed, don't be sad - the view from outside is much better (and it's free of charge!).

Hi everyone. This year we took part in competitions in aquabike in the Kamianets-Podilskyi. And we were impressed by the beauty of this city! The downtown (the Old City) is very well preserved. The Castle is accessible by foot (about 15 minutes) from the Old City. You will have a wonderful opportunity to "plunge" into the atmosphere of long gone days. You can walk through the old streets past walls of an old fortress and stand by the gate where the Peter 1 dropped his hat (it was blown away by the wind). There will be many small cafes on your way were you can relax and have a delicious coffee.
The most wonderful view on the Old City, canyon (which surrounds the Old City) and the Castle opens from the main tower of the Old Castle. Entrance to the territory of the Castle is paid 50 grivnas. There you can visit museums, exhibitions that are devoted to the history of the Castle and eat national food in the Restaurant.
It was an unforgettable journey. I advise and invite everyone to this amazing city!

This fortress has such a complex and lengthy history: getting a tour and an overview is a must. The site is well maintained but watch your step on the stones that have been worn to slipperiness by countless feet.
The fortress is accessible by foot from the old town, which itself is worthy of much exploration (museums, churches, unique ruins).
The fortress had an outdoor grill going while we visited, and activities for kids, as well as souvenir vendors and historic animators. None of the 'touristy' stuff interfered with the enjoyment of the site itself.
