The view of this castle from the road which leads up to it is simply stunning. This is not the easiest place to get to but it was well worth the trip. We were based in Chernivtsi and rather than sweat it out on a local bus, we decided to book a day trip with a tour company. The lady at the Chernivtsi tourist information office was extremely helpful and pointed us at a tour company a few doors away. The only tours for the next few days were in Ukrainian but we booked up anyway. The full day tour consisted of a visit to Khotyn castle (also absolutely amazing and well worth a visit) and KP castle and old town. Speaking no Ukrainian, we had no idea what the tour guide was saying but it was still worth it because we were taken to each of the sites in a nice air conditioned bus and didn't have to worry about working out the local bus times. We could wander about the sites by ourselves and take in the atmosphere. Both Khotyn and KP have small museums inside - no info in English though sadly. However both are astonishingly beautiful and quite unlike any other castles we've seen in Europe.
