we have just returned from a coach trip to Torri del benaco and can't wait to go back! A beautiful place and a great base for your holiday to Lake Garda. Torri is a small but pretty town with good access to lots of local attractions by car or service buses. Torri is approximately 45 from Verona (which you just HAVE to visit) and about 2 hours from Venice. Take a trip to the pretty town of Garda, just 10 mins away by car, or spend an afternoon strolling around the path at the lake shore surrounded by stunning mountain scenery. We completed a tour of the whole lake by coach in one day with plenty of time to stop at markets shops and pebbly beaches on the way.
Not far from Torri (for the younger person in you) are 'MovieLand' and 'GardaLand' , themed attractions with rides and various attractions.
Torri is a good value for money resort, the cost of a beer about
2Euros and a lunchtime snack (panini, pizza etc) from about 4Euros. Wine from 2Euros a bottle!
some bargains are to be had on Wednesdays market.. usually tourist stuff but some beautiful soft leather goods, i tried to haggle twice but they were having none of it!
We stayed at the Hotel Internationale in Torri, a 3/4 star resort with plenty of room, good food and service. A quiet pool area with plenty of free sun beds. rooms vary in size, bigger, family, rooms seeming to have less of a view but plenty of space and smaller double rooms a stunning view of Lake Garda itself but all rooms clean and seemingly well maintained. This Hotel IS right at the shore but you will have to cross a small and sometimes busy road to get to the lake.
To summarise, go to Torri del Benaco, you WILL have a great holiday!
