Nice hotel where all rooms are suites. We actually had almost more space in this room that I do at home. The hotel is well positioned close to the beach. The pool is OK, a bit small and basic perhaps. Unheated, but a heated pool in this climate is unnecessary. There is a small indoor pool, but the one time we went in it we both felt slightly ill afterwards, that could have been a coincidence though. There is a tennis court and you can borrow rackets and balls at reception. Although it is a bit smelly down that end of the hotel (there must be a sewage works nearby).

The rooms were very nice, the one we stayed in was a rounded roofed beehive sort of design. I may not be explaining it well, but it was nice. We had a private courtyard, which was great for chilling out in.

The English TV channels were a bit limited, but were weren't there to watch TV. I did need to use the broadband a lot and that was painfully slow.

The staff were all very nice. Especially the room cleaners and the people at the restaurant.

This hotel would be great for slightly older people. Families with young children are welcomed, but there is not a great deal for children to do.

I was very happy with my stay there.

Room Tip: Get a room away from the tennis court end of the hotel.

We booked through secret escapes and were really pleased with the hotel.

The pods are great. You have a large bedroom, a changing room, a lounge \ study area, a large bathroom with a shower and Jacuzzi bath and a great outdoor courtyard area.

The resort had two swimming pools, a gym and a spa with special offers for massages.

You are only 5 minutes from a great beach and about 20 minute walk to the centre of Costa Calda.

The food in the evenings was exceptional and5 the breakfast was also good.

Will definitely visit again.

We booked last minute through Secret Escapes and could not have been more delighted with this hotel. The 'pods' are huge and well equipped. We particularly liked the private garden area with sun loungers and outdoor shower which was not overlooked, and the clothes drying line showed they really had thought of everything. The private area gave a bit of shelter from the relentless wind - I had been told it was a windy island but was not prepared for quite how windy it would be. It meant it never felt uncomfortably hot, but some times on the beach we were literally whipped by the sand which was quite painful.

The food was generally very good - we preferred the set menu evenings to the buffet and barbecue ones. Breakfast excellent, and most days saw us through to the evening meal. We had lunch twice and that was tasty and reasonable. Wine was reasonably priced.

The grounds were immaculately kept and the swimming pools sparklingly clean with plenty of us loungers. There is a Thai spa and also an excellent masseuse operating separately - we had excellent massages from both. There was a good beach about a ten minute walk away, but it was quite an uphill climb on the way back so not great if you have walking difficulties. Be careful swimming as the current was quite strong and there were some big waves.

The service was fantastic. All the staff were incredibly friendly, cheerful and helpful.

This hotel is perfect if you want privacy, peace and quiet for a week but probably not for you if you want activities and entertainment. We decided we probably wouldn't return to Fuerteventura as the island wasn't really for us, but if we ever did return we would definitely stay at the Risco del Gato.

Room Tip: Rooms in the 100s would all have a sea view

All the staff at the hotel were welcoming and helpful, and always available. The rooms were a good size, private and comfortable and were cleaned daily with personal touches (HOW did they make an elephant with the towels!?!)
The food was very varied, with a wide selection of sweet and savoury choices in the buffet and a choice of meat, fish or vegetarian for the set menu.
The tennis courts, sauna and jacuzzi were a lovely treat and well maintained.
It is a quiet, peaceful retreat and perfect for rest and relaxation.

From the moment we arrived we felt so welcome, Bernardino what a credit to the reception team, the suites are just perfect, huge bedroom, lounge with mini bar and the bathroom WOW, jacuzzi whirl pool bath, just heaven. Our own outside space including a patio area and secluded sunbathing area with sun beds and patio furniture. Beautiful pool areas and if you feel like some exercise a gym on site. We were half board and the food was varied and tasty, served in two different restaurants and overseen by Paco the restaurant manager, again what a credit to the hotel, his attention to detail second to none. Stunning bar area too and each evening we had the pleasure of Bence serving us. I am not easily impressed or pleased so for me to write in such praise of somewhere is saying something, don't just take my word for it, please go and experience for yourself. The beach is within walking distance so you really do have the best of both worlds.

Room Tip: Rooms 101 to 112 in front of pool areas and close to restaurants
