My husband and I recently stayed at Hotel Las Olas in Mancora. What a charming boutique hotel right on the beach. Our room had a balcony and a view and we slept like babies with the ocean breeze and the crashing of the waves. The owner is sweet and quite accommodating. She speaks English and was able to reserve inexpensive horse rides on the beach as well as had a yummy breakfast ready for us every morning. Great lounge chairs with umbrellas too. Enjoy !!

This place is the definition of value for money. We had such a great time here. Round the corner from the airport and also next to travel links for the island. We were only there for 4 nights but it felt longer and got us both so relaxed.

We stayed self catering in the La Gomera block with a gorgeous sea view. There are 7 blocks all named after a Canary Island. The apartment was large with a huge balcony. The kitchen was a bit of a letdown as only 2 ring cooker hob but no oven. Kettle and toaster were for hire, never bothered as always take my own travel kettle. Bedroom lots of space to put clothes and beds were comfortable. Shops just round the corner and did lovely crossiants which we had every day warmed in the microwave with strawberry jam. We ate out at the snack bar round pool area at lunchtime most days which was very tasty. Limited menu but food very good and nice to have a bit of shade. Pool freshwater so very chilly. Restaurants round the corner all within walking distance where we ate most nights. Bus stops across the road which was handy. All in all a relaxing stay, but had we wanted to be truly self catering we would have struggled with two ring cooker and no oven. Saying that I would go back.

We came here 2 adults and 3 children booked with TUI. On arrival we were given our 2 apartments which stated sea view but were put next to the pool Lanzarote apartments and was not great, the apartments were also not next to each other so not ideal. After a quick trip to reception we were told to come back in morning and we moved to Tenerife apartments with the most amazing sea views. I’m so glad because when I woke for the toilet in Lanzarote there were cockroaches in bathroom also in kitchen the following morning as I was making a coffee.

We moved in morning and the apartments also looked more fresh so beware!! If you are looking for a hotel that has activities and good entertainment this is definitely not the place for you!

Worth noting this island is like Tenerife and has a cloudy windy side which is where this hotel is situated. We hired a car and headed west and you literally drive through a tunnel and the sun hits you it’s quite unbelievable.

The pools at the hotel were fab one being heated and our kids enjoyed them. Most evenings are the same couple singing and on piano which wasn’t my cup of tea but we were there just for a chill week.

We took a walk to the beach around 10/15 min walk and although black sand it really was beautiful but extremely windy.

I cannot comment on restaurant as we didn’t eat there but saw how much they cleaned after and before service I was very impressed. Drinks at the bar were reasonably priced although I found the cocktails awful.

We took the bus a few times to Santa Cruz which is live but still not much going on. There are quite a few restaurants around and a hyper Dino right at the front of hotel.

On our last day we asked about keeping one room but they said it was booked up, the lovely lady at reception gave us another room to use as we explained our son is Autistic and would struggle till we left in the evening and didn’t even charge us! We really appreciated this.

I enjoyed my week in La Palma but wouldn’t return in a rush, it’s my least favorite Canary Island. We paid £136 each so was definitely worth the money!

Stayed at Las Olas for a 5 day break in May, our first holiday in 20 years without kid's, glad really as they would have been bored out of their minds.
The hotel is nice but consists of quite a few buildings around one central reception area, so it may depend on which building you are placed.
We were in the block behind reception above an empty row of shop units. I emailed in advance to request high floor with sunny balcony, we were given the first floor with sadly no sun at all. The weather wasn't that great but it would of been nice to be able to at least sit out when the sun did make an appearance.
Rooms are standard apartments, with bedroom with two single beds, living room with kitchenette, not really equipped to be self catering, and bathroom. No problems with water running hot and cold in the shower as can be the case in some large hotels. Kettle can be hired for 10 euros deposit, as these are not supplied in your apartment. In room safe was 1 euro 85 cents per day plus deposit of 30 euros. The tv in your room has a range of satellite channels which we managed to change to english speaking, so something to watch during these quiet evenings.
Breakfast was varied but sadly all pastries and meat had a strange 'mouldy' taste, juices also had a layer on top when poured. Obviously they were fine as we saw people eating everyday, and as there was nothing in the area we had to eat something as you didn't know what you was going to find elsewhere.
The hotel had singers entertaining in the evening and the bar was quite reasonable in price, cocktails 5 euros each.
The resort itself despite being the busiest was a huge let down, many shop units and restuarants are empty or closed. We had a car but even venturing out you don't find any signs of life, unless you count McDonald's with the local children on a friday night in Santa Cruz thrilling.
Nice first holiday without our own children but seen it done it comes to mind.
