Upon check in, I should have known what the week would bring. This place couldn’t even get our reservations with 5 rooms correct. I was traveling with 8 people and we had 5 rooms. First they said we only had 4 rooms. Then the hotel had us in different rooms than what the person was listed to be in. For example: my husband was listed to stay in our daughter’s boyfriends room with him. Carlos, who was at the front desk , was so rude. He ended up giving us the envelopes to our rooms and said you just figure out where you want to stay. Seemed like a simple thing, until your room key isn’t working or you need to bill something to your room, then you can’t because someone else in your party is listed on that room and doesn’t have the same last name. We complained multiple times to list the correct people staying in each room, but they refused to do this and said it couldn’t be done. Strange thing is the night before checkout the front desk seemed to figure out where we were all staying to present us with the final bill charges. How convenient was that? No problem then.
On to the rooms. 3 of the rooms smelled so bad with mold and mildew . Was told by the hotel they were at full capacity so no room changes. The rooms are very outdated, acs in 2 of the rooms didn’t work properly. Had maintenance come twice to fix ac in one room. The lamp shades are dirty, the bathtubs clog with water and the walls have cracks in them. Mini bar is not stocked every other day like they say it will be. The safe in our room never worked.
The beach is well kept and beautiful. However stayed New Years week, there are not enough chairs on the beach to accommodate full occupancy and people were saving chairs with towels for hours before anyone in their party showed up. You get a letter in your room stating don’t save chairs, but that clearly doesn’t work.
The food...so much to say here. The food is worse than any bad cruise you have been on. The food is always cold and not authenticate Jamaica cuisine. There is plenty of it, but it is the same food each day on the Buffett with very little variety. The specialty restaurants are a joke. You can only go according to the amount of nights you are staying. We stayed 7 nights and were allowed 3 visits. The Japanese was by far the best. The steakhouse needs to invest in some steak knives so you can cut your rubber, fatty steaks. The young wine sommelier (so he says he is) Havas, is absolutely terrible, with no knowledge of wine whatsoever.
The shows were terrible. Lighting and sound not prepared on most nights, especially on the New Years Show. The shows were boring and not entertaining. Most nights people left before the shows started or left half way through.
On New Years Eve they gave us a package of goodies for the party and told us to go to the other hotel for the party but little do you know they distinguished with the party goods which hotel you are staying at. They literally dressed us up like clowns where the other two hotels had awesome beads and headpieces. We had plastic noses, masks, Birthday hats and leis. If you are staying at Rose Beach you can’t use anything in the Grand or Suites. The Grand can use all 3 hotels, the Suites can use their hotel and the Beach hotel. You are allowed to use the gym/spa at the Suites.
I would like to say some positive things. The drinks are very strong and plentiful.
The entertainers Sting Bean and Teddy Bear were a pleasure to talk with, get to know and watch them play volleyball daily.
Monica, the server in Creole restaurant was wonderful and made our daughter’s 18th birthday a great memory. Floyd and Causant , servers in the buffet were just awesome and so friendly. Carlos the wine director, was very nice and went out of his way to help us. Jerome in guest services was such a pleasure to work with and again made my daughter’s birthday a great day.
Service is spotty here. You can see a lot of staff really working their butts off, and then some staff are not friendly, not doing their job and on occasion saw them drinking and socializing and not working.
We spent almost $21,000 for this vacation and was very disappointed with the entire trip. There is not enough entertainment through out the day to keep you busy, the food and shows are below par and the resort rooms are outdated and moldy smelling. No one in my party will ever return to this resort and I will not recommend to anyone.

Room Tip: Oceanfront is the best. Make sure you don’t get floor 1 or when sitting on balcony all you can see if the brick wall

This is a very good resort to stay at.

The negatives:

1) Long wait at Montego Bay airport on the shuttle to the hotel. We had to wait until the bus was almost full. This was about 45 mins. I know some people had to wait even longer then us.

2) The beds in our room were only doubles - queens would have been much better

3) The beach close to the water and dock area was pretty littered with garbage - water bottles, bags, styrofoam.

The positives:

1) The entertainment staff was amazing - Angel, Teddy, Peter, Stringbean, Sparkles worked all day at keeping us entertained.

2) The Dive Shop staff was also great. The English girl and German girl were very friendly and helpful. We snorkelled a few times right in front of the hotel which was good.

3) The food - wow it was outstanding. I was full all week. We enjoyed the Japanese restaurant the best. The buffet was outstanding with tonnes of options.

4) The pool wait staff including the bartenders were outstanding.

5) The gym is very new and the equipment was great. I did the TRX/Kettle Bell class - that was a tough workout.

Overall this resort has everything you need to have a great time.

I will definitely be back to this resort. Prior to my trip, I read many reviews of this resort and not all were positive so that was worrisome, but I do not see where the complaints came from. The food was great with a lot of variety; the grounds were clean, beautiful, and luxurious; my room was very peaceful, had a great view, and very clean; and most of all the people/staff were all amazing. They were so friendly and helpful and really made the trip.
Many people compare the Beach to the Suites and I for one did not find anything wrong with the Beach resort. The Suites has more restaurants (which I'm not sure you'd even be able to go to all of them in the time period of your stay), a lazy river, and access to the Beach resort, but none of that really mattered during my trip. The Beach's restaurants were all great with both good food and service.
This was an amazing vacation and there is absolutely nothing wrong with the beach resort. It was extraordinary and I will definitely be returning.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Iberostar Beach Resort, property was always clean and staff very warm and helpful. Entertainment, food and drinks were definitely on par with our expectations.

From the Airport we used Top Choice Jamaica Tours for our private transfers, we were a group of 7 really excellent service, never late on any of our pick ups with a courteous and friendly driver, Highly recommend if you are going private. At the resort check in was in good time. We had a great ocean view room bed was comfy, linen clean and fresh. They also provided the basic toiletries, shampoo conditioner body lotion, shower cap and a sewing kit, so no need to over pack on these. Our room also had a safe not very large but enough to hold our valuables.

We enjoyed days on the beach and by the pool, plenty of chairs and palapas for shade, the beach also had good shallow areas for children to play and lifeguards were always around doing a great job. Food and drinks were all good, the buffet opened until 10pm had a good variety, always fresh and tastes great. Our favorite was the Hibachi, cajun Restaurant and steak house ( must try the ribeye steak and the jerk wings, they were really good ). My recommendation is make reservations on the day you arrive or the following day our you will find yourself with a very late dinner. The drink selections were pretty good also we liked the swim up bar by the pool, the buffet has wine and beer only but you could always take mixed drink from the other places.

Entertainment was ok, they had beach volley ball, beach soccer and other games. They played music in the days around the pool reggae and other genres, they also had beach parties with a live DJ, night entertainment was pretty good too. There is also free wifi, which I found worked throughout the resort, spotty in some places but overall very good.

I can say we had a grand time at the Iberostar Beach resort and will be going again.

Great hotel. We went for our wedding this December. All of our guests loved the resort, great staff and amazing food. Rooms were nice and clean. Lots to do for all ages. We brought our two children with us, staff were great with them.
The wedding was fantastic. If you choose extra decor, keep all email correspondence-had a minor issue with an unprovided service. Vanassa and Janel were great. The spa at the suites did an amazing job on hair and makeup. Consider bringing your own photography as well, we used the resorts. Pictures turned out nice but also some issues with the picture quality.
Overall an amazing trip-would go back here for sure! Thanks for an incredible week Iberostar!!
