Mida Creek Mangrove Forest Glass-Bottom Boat...

Mida Creek has an amazing boardwalk, snaking for 100s of metres through the tidal mangrove forest and ending up at a covered platform overlooking mudflats and estuary. For a small fee you can walk along, taking a guide if you wish, and enjoy the incredible site of thousands and thousands of shorebirds flocking around you as the tide advances. It's spectacular and unforgettable ... but you need to be OK with a suspended, slightly adventurous walk to get there.

Totally loved the sunset. Short distance from Turtle Bay. Beautiful scenery of the mangrove and awesome sunset views.

It's a natural tidal creek fringed with mangroves - a great site for birding, sailing in local dhows with the 'gondolier' through the maze of channels especially at sunset. It's a nursery for turtles and fish and then a stop at Crabshack for a meal amidst the mangroves.

The setting is beautiful, the creek itself peaceful but the only bar/resto overlooking it is rather cramped and the service soso. The beer was lukewarm. The first thing you get when you arrive is a rather brutal way of asking you an entrance fee to get to the creek or the bar.

Mida Creek is a recognized International Bird Area and together with Arabuko-Sokoke Forest forms a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Mida Creek is an important feeding and development area for juvenile green and hawksbill sea turtles. Coral heads and the rich seagrass beds provide food in a sheltered area away from large predators.
