Its my second time to visit Mida Creek, because it is so beautifull there. Nice to walk when the water is low and if you want you can take a boat to the other side.

I came during the low season so there is nothing much to see.

The ocean scenery is breathtaking but no birds to see so a bit too quiet.

If you get a chance to go to the villages in the island it would be worth the trip.

But it's alright.

Overall...Average on low season.May and June.

Its ideal for friends and nature lovers. Its location is convinient and easily accessible from malindi and Watamu.

We visited the creek on our stay in Watamu on the Kenya's east coast, as a break between Tsavo West and East safaris.

We walked with locals to see the mangroves, you get to plant a tree too! The mangroves are quite extensive extending into the Arabuko Sakoko forest nearby - the latter another hidden gem on the east coast that merits a visit.

Its a birds paradise, especially for fish eagles.

The locals have a small restaurant, they can serve simple but delicious meals. We took a plate of rice with some fish.

Mida Creek has an amazing boardwalk, snaking for 100s of metres through the tidal mangrove forest and ending up at a covered platform overlooking mudflats and estuary. For a small fee you can walk along, taking a guide if you wish, and enjoy the incredible site of thousands and thousands of shorebirds flocking around you as the tide advances. It's spectacular and unforgettable ... but you need to be OK with a suspended, slightly adventurous walk to get there.
