Reviewed 24 September 2017

Having just returned from a very enjoyable 10 days at the Nautilus bungalows, partly chosen on the strength of previous reviews, I can confirm that it is indeed as good as the reviews suggest ...

The maintenance and housekeeping staff really do a fabulous job of keeping the outdoor communal areas and the apartments, spotlessly clean. The apartments are very spacious and have everything you need for a relaxing and stress-free home away from home stay. There are two lovely pools, which in keeping with the rest of the complex, cater well for both the able and less able bodied.
The supermarket on site is reasonably priced, and has everything you might have forgotten!
There are shops, restaurants, car & bike hire and lovely beaches, a mere 5-minute stroll away.

However, I will pass on a couple of minor issues, and one very major one, which I feel needs addressing immediately.

The minor issues ...
1. Although the majority of staff, couldn't be more helpful, on a couple of occasions we encountered some disdain from one particular member of reception staff, (whose name I didn't note!), but she is the one who wears black horn-rimmed spectacles, and turns her blouse collar up! On 2 occasions, we found her most unhelpful, the first time I was looked for a litter bin, as there are no communal litter bins throughout the site, (only in apartments)! Well, she reached down under desk and offered up her own waste paper bin, you'd think I'd asked her for the crown jewels!

2. The second time our paths crossed, was at checkout time, we owned up to having accidentally broken one drinking glass. One cheap Ikea tumbler ... charge €1! I thought she was joking, but she stood there stony faced, hand outstretched! So much for honesty! You would think that they must allow a certain leeway for every day wear and tear? ... Good job we didn’t break something larger! Not impressed …

The one MAJOR issue with this resort ...
You can read through every past review, and this has not been mentioned once. To be fair, it is not something you would even notice or think twice about, I didn't either! and the only reason that I am mentioning it now, is because it was highlighted, following a minor incident which happened to us...

THERE ARE NO SMOKE DETECTORS IN ANY OF THE APARTMENTS, or throughout the whole complex!

For a resort which prides itself in advertising facilities for the less able bodied and people with mobility issues, this is surely an inexcusable oversight, which heaven forbid, could lead to catastrophic consequences ...I did ask one of the cleaning staff, why there were no smoke detectors, but just got a resigned shrug of the shoulders!

I feel that this is major H&S issue which merited a mention here, and if the management are serious about providing a truly premier resort, for both able and less able-bodied clients, this surely needs to be addressed without delay.

Apologies for going on a little, other than these few issues, the complex would indeed merit the 5 stars which so many previous reviewers have awarded.

Room Tip: Rooms 16,17 & 18 get the sun on the patio all day .. (not wheelchair friendly though..)

Dear Mario C.
Thank you for sharing your opinion on Tripadvisor .

As I understand one of the reception staff , was helping you but as I see you did not like her attitude .

I'm really surprised about your review on smoke detectors in our apartments because we follow the strict regulations by the Spanish law on smoke detectors, evacuations and maintenance of it, if you are thinking to coming back in Nautilus Lanzarote, please ask directly to me, Leda Giordano, and not to the cleaners as they are not English speakers , and I will show you all the procedures that we follow by regulations in force as well as certificates on evacuations and maintenance for smoke detectors and all the security matters that we keep up.

When you do check in you are given a list of all the services, information on excursions, and a list of all the items you will find in the apartments as you are reponsible for them. Overleaf this list states that all items missing upon check out would be paid for.

Best Regards,
Leda Giordano

Spotlessly clean hotel, as is most of the area, with lovely friendly staff. They focus on accessibility so fantastic if you have limited mobility. Gardens and grounds dotted with interesting artworks, and fine paintings in all the rooms. You are 2 minutes to the beach with a long promenade with ample benches to rest and enjoy the views. A good selection of bars and eateries just 3 minutes away. It is situated about 4K from the airport so no need for a transfer, just walk outside and the taxis are lining up, cost €11 one way. You do however hear the planes comIng and going. There is a supermarket downstairs from the reception, 2 lovely swimming pools with loads of loungers, but the only down side for me was there is no bar, so down to the supermarket for a beer if you get thirsty, however this does make for a very quiet and relaxing atmosphere, no music blaring!
I have loved my stays here at Nautilus so much I have found another flight and extended my stay here by 3 more days! Highly recommended.

Dear Redser1955

Thank you very much for sharing your opinion. It is good to know that you enjoyed a relaxed stay with us one again.

The area of Matagorda turns out to be very suitable for wheelchair users. If we go little bit further, there is also an amphibious chair service in Playa de los Pocillos (not very far from us) it is needed to be booked in advance but very enjoyable for those who wants a bath in the sea!
We would like to thank you once more for your review and hope to welcoming you soon in Nautilus Lanzarote.

PS : we will let Olga know that you mentioned her ( she will love it)

All the best.

Have just returned from a week long stay at the Nautilus with my 84 year old mum. I have reviewed the property after previous visits and despite the passage of time, I still rate it as 5 stars. For us quite literally a little piece of heaven. It is so peaceful, calm and relaxing. The entire complex is immaculate - the housekeeping staff and the grounds staff keep the entire area spotless and the reception staff are exceptional. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Now occasionally things will go wrong or break down (e.g. kettle or patio umbrella) but report it to the reception staff and it will be sorted right away. They can also sort out excursions, taxis etc.
The apartments themselves are fabulous. I have stayed in one bedroom apartments (with my mum) and also a two bedroom apartment (with friends) and found that they were very spacious and very well equipped with everything you could possibly need.
The living room area has a large settee plus a table and chairs. There is a wifi router in every apartment (which is free). There is also a large flat screen TV which has numerous channels, now including BBC1,2, ITV and Channel 4.
There is an air conditioning unit in each living area, which is available for a nominal charge. Each bedroom has a ceiling fan. The beds are very comfortable and there is plenty of wardrobe space.
The bathroom is also spacious and most have a shower which in my experience is powerful. Each apartment also has an enclosed area where you can hang out clothes and also a patio with table, chairs, loungers and a large patio umbrella.
Many of the apartments are specially adapted for persons with mobility challenges and although my mum doesn't require this, she is elderly and walks with a stick and the whole complex has ramps which means that she can walk around very easily but is also accessible for wheelchairs.
Some reviewers have mentioned that they would like to be able to get drinks by the pool,(there is an adult pool and also one for children) however the fact that the complex does not have a bar is a major plus for me. There is also no restaurant but they do provide breakfast (for a charge) and also you can pre-order lunch. There is a well stocked supermarket on the premises which provided all my requirements and very economic.
There are restaurants and bars only a short walk away and Puerto del Carmen is only a short taxi ride away. If you want buzz, entertainment and everything on site, then there are other locations but if you want a quiet, calm, peaceful and relaxing holiday in immaculate and spacious apartments and in a great complex - then I would suggest you would love a stay at the Nautilus. Already planning to return in 2018.

Room Tip: Please advise the reception staff at the time of booking if you require an adapted apartment for gue...

Stayed here with my family in March 2017. My father is disabled and it can be difficult to find a place with the right facilities. We stayed in one of the Nautilus specially modified bungalows.
It was fantastic and right beside the pool. We were able to rent a mobility scooter through the hotel and dad was able to whiz around the area with us.
The staff was really helpful and we will definitely be back.
