“We're glad we didn't believe in some reviews.”
Reviewed 22 September 2011

After 15 years, my partner and I were going back to Mykonos.
We have wonderful memories of our first trip - when we were young and energetic! - so we wanted to have a good experience second time around.
We spent sometime looking through the list of hotels and, totally confused, eventually, decided to engage a local travel agent (the delightful Rita at Wind Mills Travel) to help us out. We short-listed our preferred hotels and she pick up the Elysium straight (straight?) away. We argued that some of the reviews were very negative; she asked us to trust her. We did and are very happy for it.
We had a great time!
The location, as most people have already mentioned, is, quite simply, one of the best in Mykonos. Incredible vistas of the old town and the best sunset on the island.
The reception is neat and well designed and Nikko, at the desk, is great. Polite, helpful, efficient and always with a smile.
The room - we had one of the superior - was relatively small and looked a bit 'tired'. The fantastic view from our balcony partially made up for it. The bathroom also would benefit from a refurbishing.
Bar e restaurant services were excellent. The menu is rather limited but there's something for almost everyone and the quality of the dishes - presentation, freshness and taste - is quite exceptional for a hotel of that size.
The cocktails are OK and kind of overpriced however the staff that serves them is wonderful, not only efficient, friendly and polite, but also rather good to look at.
The sunset parties are definitely a must! Everyone seems to be there, including a few kids!, and everybody seems to have a good time. It certainly kick-starts the evening.
No, I can't say that it's very good value for money, as it's quite expensive, but it was well worth it.
We're very glad we believed Rita rather than the (very) negative reviews.
We'll be back and it won't take another 15 years!

Room Tip: Top cabins, away from the pool, have lovely balconies and beautiful views of the old town and the su...

Just got back from a great two weeks at The Elysium. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the location of the hotel (up a killer hill) was AMAZING! Great sunsets watched with over 200 gay men and very professional drag shows every evening. We loved staying there!

However, we won't be returning due to the price of the rooms! We stayed in a standard room, which we could have stayed elsewhere in a similar room for a third of the price.

Dear Elysium Owner.....Bring the price of your rooms down or renovate them with a lot more luxury! The standard rooms are not value for money!

Rooms are well below average, beds are extremely uncomfortable, bathrooms need all new tiles (some are cracked or have fallen off all together), wifi is very weak in the rooms. The restaurant food is surprisingly good, bar staff and waiters are very nice and do a great job. Pool are is not bad, but is only average at best. Front desk staff are helpful and nice. The sunset parties in the evening are fun, but after a few nights gets old and if you are staying at the hotel and want to take a nap before going out for the evening it is impossible to get any rest. Overall, you could stay at a much nicer hotel for the money and go to the sunset parties if you want. I don't recommend the Elysium.

I have to tell you I was in heaven!!!!! The staff from the reception to the bar staff and even the housekeeping ladies thank you for givining me a lovely time. I got a room which I can only complain of it being two very small single beds ,but It was the best 4 nights of my life. THey have shows from about 6 and it ends at 10 perfect to go get some sleep before you lay in sun and drink copius amounts of mojitos (which is very strong I was almost permanently drunk thanks to alex and his entourage) I wish I never left! Although its pricey mykonos is expensive overall so maybe skip this island if your on a tight budget ,but all the gay men around this place is the seriously HEAVEN!!!!! Thanks to all the staff that made me feel like royalty and I really hope that Ill see you again next year.

This Hotel is in a class by itself. The rooms are tastefully decorated, clean, and spacious.I will say that the bed is very hard, and not very comfortable, but your not there to sleep, you are there to party and sun, nude if you'd like. It's a short walk or drive from the pier, but it is at the top of a very large steep hill. Really great exercise. The views from the room are truly amazing. The reception desk and staff are so helpful, and will go out of their way to make sure your stay surpasses your expectations. I did not have my laptop, so they loaned me one to use; it's high speed, and WIFI. There are many amenities to choose from; a spa, gym, infinity pool, whirlpool, TV room with comfortable seating, meeting room, full service bar, restaurant, showers... The breakfast which is included is awesome: fresh squeezed orange juice, artesian breads, fresh delicious fruit selection, coffee, teas, yogurts with all the toppings, cheeses, olives, tomatoes, jams & honey, 2 types of eggs, bacon, sausage, deli meats, definitely the food of the Gods. The staff and servers are wonderful, especially, Fotis. They have a nightclub on the premises which caters to the whole community, and everyone congregates there from 7-10 for the sunset party. They have a DJ with great music and dancing. They have drag and a male belly dancer(Don't miss it) The drinks are pricey but so delicious, if you wanted cheap, stay home, it's a vacation, enjoy yourself, and don't worry about spending the money. We met many people on our stay, so that helped make it all the more fun.
Mykonos town is a 5 minute walk, and is packed with bars, restaurants, shops. The Unity restaurant has really great food at a good price, ate their almost twice a day. The Men are gorgeous. If you want to have a very relaxing and fun experience, The Elysium Hotel is the place to stay, you won't regret it! It's worth every penny.
