Great tour. On time transportation, well informed multi-lingual guide, no sales pitch. Travel through the island, boat to see starfish and our new friends on Isla Saona. We had massages and ate lobster on the beach. We really enjoyed ourselves...don't miss this tour it will be the highlight of your vacation!

We just got back from the Carnival Valor and after reading several reviews, decided on the Saona Special for Carnival guests. I was hesitant about doing a "non Carnival" excursion, but this was a great choice. It's cheaper than Carnival and also includes lunch, which Carnival's didn't.
The taxi coordinator was waiting at the dock as Alexander from Seavis said she would be. She guided us to the appropriate taxi van. The vans are air conditioned..it was hot out!
After a 20-25 minute ride through mostly uninhabited land, we arrived in a little area in Bayahibe on the water, and there was the Seavis building. We paid for the trip and taxi and boarded our speedboat. The boat had a canopy that shaded part of it, if you prefer that section. We did, as it was very hot and sunny. We were off!
Cisco, our Belgian guide, was fun and informative. He pointed out the caves where Taino Indians lived. Then to the mangrove areas. As it was mating season, we didn't see any birds.
Zipping over to Saona Island..it's an incredible beach with the bluest water. Granted there are other tour groups there, but there's plenty of room for everyone. You could snorkel if you wanted or just walk or lay out on the sand. There are lounge chairs.
A lunch was included that provided grilled chicken and pork, rice and beans, salad, bread and fruit, and also soda, rum and beer. We were there around 1 1/2 hours.
Then, back on the boat to the Piscina Natural, a hugh sandbar in the middle of the sea. I'm not a swimmer, but still felt comfortable going out into the knee-high water. This area is a haven for starfish, and we saw plenty! They were hugh. It was awesome to see them in their natural habitat. Cisco provided drinks and rum cake.
I wish the tour could have been longer, but for some reason Carnival pushed up our departure time from 5pm to 4pm, so we had to cut the tour back by an hour.
All too soon we were back on board and back to Seavis where the taxis waited.
Our only problem was that our taxi got a flat tire on the way back to the ship. We had about 40 minutes left till we had to board. Everyone started getting a little concerned, but one guy on our van had the tire changed in less than 10 minutes, so we were good to go. Also, another taxi had also stopped to help, so I think he could have taken us back to the ship if necessary. All in all though, I would recommend Seavis. We had a great day.

We just came back from a Carnival Valor cruise & did this at the LaRomana stop. It was really organized & well run. Our stop was shortened by an hour & they had already figured it all out. My only complaint was the taxi; we were the first ones in & almost the last to leave, hoping this is not the norm. Our driver wait for 2 more to fill the van. The boat ride was smooth & interesting. The beach was beautiful & lunch was good too. The meat was the best part, nice grilled flavor. I didn't even realize that rum was included. My favorite part was almost the last part, the sandbar & holding the starfish. The water was warm & shallow & so peaceful. Arriving back, the taxis were waiting for us & we got back to the ship in plenty of time. At no time were we scared or in danger. A great day

Both owners of the company were very friendly and helpful. They spoke fluent english along with our guide which was nice since most people in the Dominic we came across did not. The crew didn't really and that got a bit frustrating at times when you asked a question. The boat you take to the island of Saona is a bit crowed, but it's a pretty drive. The food they served was very tasty and plenty of it. The excursion was reasonably priced and good value. As in any third world country, the expectation for tips is annoying and the villiage they took us to had asked no less then 3 times for donations. They seem to feel because we can afford a vacation we have unlimited bills to pass out. All in all I would recommend this company based on their politeness and helpfulness.

We booked this online and everything went just as Seavis described. Our ship changed it's departure time and Seavis accommodated. Our host Cisco was fun and very knowledgeable. Our Italian photographer took excellent photos which are well worth the money. Buy the cd it's much better than you'll take yourself. We took a shoreline tour of caves and Mangroves, then had a nice lunch on the beach. The snorkeling was good and they provided all the equipment. We then went out to a sandbar full of starfish which was amazing! They provided rum drinks and freshly made rum cakes for all.
