Pros: price was cheap in comparison to other hotels; hotel premises was always very tidy; buffet food was delicious; beach was very nice - there was always someplace to sit; the bathroom in our room was really nice - shower was very clean and water was always hot

Cons: no free WiFi; bed was EXTREMELY uncomfortable; tv in our room didn't work; sheets on the bed had blood stains on them - yes, blood...and the pillows smelled awful like they had NEVER been washed; air conditioning unit in the room got louder as the week progressed - we finally had to turn it off so we could get some sleep; a la carte restaurants were HORRIBLE - we tried French, steakhouse and cajun restaurants and we were severely disappointed, we couldn't even get into the Japanese restaurant which from what I heard is the only good one; we had to order room service the night it was pouring rain and the food was NOT edible - I threw our pizza at a racoon outside and he woudn't eat it; the lazy river experience was subpar - there were never any adult-size tubes available, and there were way too many kids in there making the floating experience anything but relaxing, also the lazy river isn't nearly as big as the website makes it out to be

We just got back from our first trip to the Lindo after a friend highly recommended it. My wife and I loved it. The buffet was such that I didn’t see a need to visit the other restaurants. The nightly entertainment is a little weak and outdated. I did however like the Monday night “Disco” show. The pool complex was awesome but we actually spent most of our time on the beach. The workers were wonderful and the resort was very clean (maybe rooms a little outdated). We left our kids at home but wife and I agree the resort definitely had plenty to do for kids of all ages. Would definitely go back!

Room Tip: Stay in Building 51...close to pool and beach

This is our second visit to the Lindo, the last was 5 years ago. We absolutely loved the Lindo the first time we stayed there and raved to all of our friends about it. While we enjoyed ourselves tremendously this time also, the rooms are in need of an update. Everything was exactly the same as it was 5 years ago; they need to update the bed linens, pillows etc. The drinks were also a disappointment. 5 years ago we expereinced alot of top shelf and this time it was hard to find any drinks that we liked. The beach, pool and grounds are gorgeous. The thing we absolutely love about this place is all of the wildlife and how well-maintained the grounds are. The activities are plentiful and tons of fun. The staff is excellent. I would definitely recommend going to this place, but unfortunately I just can't rave about it like I did 5 years ago until they update it a little.

Room Tip: Bring your own hair dryer!

This was our second trip to the Iberostar Pariso Lindo, obviously we loved it or wouldn"t have gone back. The resort is clean and well maintained, the staff is very friendly. The only difference between the 2 trips is that the Entertainment Crew, employees around the pool were not as outgoing as in 2011. It may seem minor but when you are traveling with kids it makes a huge difference. There were also less activities around the pool for the kids to participate in. The beach party will always be one of our favorite days and best meals!

The Iberostar Paraiso Lindo is one of 5 Iberostar hotels on a large complex approximately mid way between Cancun and Playa Del Carmen. The Paraiso Lindo is linked with the Paraiso Maya and all the faciliies of the Maya can be used, with the exception of the 3 small quiet pools ajacent to their accomodation blocks. You can also use all the facilities of the adjacent Paraiso Beach and Paraiso Del Mar complex, which is Iberostar Premium rating as opposed to the Premium Gold rating for the Lindo and Maya. The main differences between the two classes being food and alcoholic drinks selection.

The Lindo/Maya complex is well laid out with 3 swimming pools (2 of which are linked), a wave pool and a 'lazy river' that you use an inflatable ring to drift round. The excellent 'white' fine sand beach is a short walk away. There are 4 bars (lobby, pool, in-pool and beach), an ice cream bar, 3 speciality restaurants, and a buffet restaurant at the Lindo. There are a further 5 specility restaurants that you can use in the Maya. (Specialities are: Mexican, Italian, 2 French, Japanese, Cajun, Seafood and Steak). Men have to wear long trousers and sleeved shirts (short or long) to use the speciality resaurants. The Italian and Mexican restaurants, adjacent to one of the pools are used as buffet restaurants for breakfast and lunch.

There are plenty of activities at the pool and on the beach during the day. At night shows are given in the theatre. There are plenty of activities organised for children.

A 'shuttle bus' to Playa Del Carmen, a lively town, is available at certain times at a cost of 50pesos or $5 each way.

There is a supposed quite area around one of the pools in the Paraiso Beach/Del Mar complex, but noise level depends on how much the nearby wet pool bar is being used. If you want peace and quiet book the adjacent 'adult only' Iberostar Paraiso Grande.

Prices in the on site hotel gift shops (where you can bill to your room) are suprisingly often cheaper than the shops in Playa Del Carmen.

We had an excellent 7 days at the Lindo. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The food in the speciality restaurants were of a high standard, if you are going to use these book them as soon as possible after you arrive to ensure you get a reservation at the time you want.

Room Tip: We were on the top floor (2nd or 3rd if you're American) of block 54 on the side facing the Para...

Just returned home from a 5 day trip to Iberostar Paraiso Lindo and I want to be there NOW! Amazing!! Beautiful taste of paradise! We enjoyed our time, strolling around the grounds and sampling food from all the different options we had available. EVERYthing was sooo good!! Pools were wonderful, only thing I could add about the pools is that we wished at least one of them were open later. 8:00 seems to be a bit early for a resort to close the pools. We were with a large group and everyone seemed to feel the same way. I realize that there is maintenance involved, however, if one pool could remain open that would be wonderful!! Staff and everyone we came into contact with was extremely helpful and friendly. The mattresses on the beds were way hard, so if you have an issue with that, I understood you could ask for a foam mattress pad. I am ready to go back tomorrow!! Paradise on Earth!!!!

Room Tip: Ask for a ground floor or second floor room. Trek to third floor got a bit tiring for old folks! I...

We stayed at this hotel from the 22nd March 2012 to the 5th April 2012. We had an amazing holiday this hotel was fantastic, and we honestly couldn’t recommend it enough. I will try and include everything that we look for in a review but if you have any questions please contact me and I will do my best to answer.

*just a note that it was America's spring break during the two weeks we were there so there was quite a few teenage groups there although they were a bit loud (during the day) this did not detract from the holiday.

Flights/Airport/Transfers
We booked our holiday with First Choice and flew from Birmingham Airport and the food and films were what you expect on a flight. The only issue we had was outbound flew via Manchester which added an hour onto our journey there, but we were aware of this before we flew. They gave us the immigration cards to fill in on the plane and when we arrived at Cancun airport everything went smoothly and quickly. *There are porters offering to take your bags, just beware as they do expect a tip*. They give you half of immigration card back you must keep this safe as you need it to exit the country.

We were greeted by Thompson/first choice rep and the transfer to the hotel was approx half an hour. When we arrived we checked in and were given 2 room keys, 2 towel cards, wrist bands, a map of hotel, details of meal times, a la carte restaurants and other facilities. The bell boys then took us and our luggage via a golf cart to our room. (*We did give them a tip).
On your outbound flight you are required to pay an exit tax at the airport. This works out at £42/$780 pesos not sure how much it was in dollars but you can pay with either 3 currencies.

Room
We were given room 5009 (block 50) which was right near the beach (but no view of the beach). The room had a gigantic king size bed, sofa bed, small table with 2 chairs and built in wardrobes. It also has a huge side board which houses the TV and shelves and drawers to store clothes etc. The room also had air conditioning and a ceiling fan which could be set to your preference. The bathroom had bath and a shower *the shower went scolding hot mostly at night so be wary of this especially if have children using it.*

Also provided in the room was a Hairdryer (their voltage is 110v so my hairdryer was extremely slow so was glad there was one in the room, my hair straightners worked fine). They also provided Shampoo and Body wash in dispensers. As well as little bottles of Body wash/shampoo/lotion, a small Sewing kit, shoe shine sponge, shower cap and soap.
They also provide Face cloths and towels, which were replaced daily. They also change bed linen daily. In the room there was also a coffee machine, filtered coffee, coffee mate, tea bags black and flavoured, sugar and sweeteners. There is no kettle to boil water for the tea though so luckily we had taken our own. Cups, glasses and ice bucket, which can be filled from machine in each hotel block.

In the room there is a fridge stocked with cans of coke, sprite, fanta, fizzy water, bottles of lager and bottles of water to drink and a large bottle for coffee/tea. You can also order room service 24 hours a day which included burgers, hotdogs, sandwiches and desserts. We asked for some milk on our arrival to put in our tea/coffee because there is nowhere on site to buy any and 10 minutes later they were knocking at the door with 2 cartons of milk which they continued to replace as requested at no charge.

Facilities

The rooms, hotel grounds, bars, food areas, pools and beach are all kept immaculately clean.

You can use the towel cards they give you when you check in to get towels to use by the pool/beach and you can change these daily. Sun beds/umbrellas provided on the beach and pool free of charge.

We charged a Massage which was $99 each for 50 minutes. This can be done on the beach, by the pool or in the spa. You also get a certificate to access the wet area in the spa for a day of your choice, which includes an indoor pool, steam, sauna and different temperature pools that have various benefits. The massage was worth every penny it was so relaxing and the spa was well worth the visit.

On site there are 5 Iberostar hotels, so you are allowed to access the facilities hotel either side of yours as well as the ones in your own. This includes the a la carte restaurants. There is also a shopping centre which houses a dozen souvenir shops, an ice cream shop and taco bar (that are part of all inclusive also), the spa and a pharmacy.

Food/drink
There is a large main buffet area which provides a large choice of foods for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food in here was of excellent quality. There is also a buffet area that does breakfast and lunch by the pool. You can also get food on the beach from 12 noon until 4.30.
Drinks are available from 10am at the beach and the pool bar. There are also staff that will come round and take your drinks order, we tipped them and they continually came back so we hardly had to move. They do have brand named alcohol and they are all included in all inclusive package.

You can book the a la carte restaurants 3 times a week, but they will accommodate you if not fully booked. We tried the Italian and the steak house and both were lovely.

Entertainment
A different live production was put on every night and they go all out with dances, music and professional lighting. The children’s disco is on before hand and the main shows start at 9.30pm. There is a separate lounge bar if you don’t want to watch the shows.

The entertainment staff go out of their way to get people involved in the various activities they offer but do not hassle you if you say no. You can also access snorkels and kayaks for free at the beach.

Excursions
We went on First Choices Jungle tour which is based in Cancun. You get to drive your own speed boat in convoy (2 to each boat) for about an hour then your guide ties all the boats together and you go snorkelling for about 45 mins, with beautiful coral and fish before returning via your speedboat. This was a lot of fun and we would recommend it. This was approx £50 each.

We also went on the Columbus dinner cruise, which was based in Cancun. This was also £50 each, although we would not recommend it. You go on what can only be described as a large fishing boat that has been made to look like a galleon. The meal was ok but nowhere near as nice has the food in the hotel.
